who created the "8 gates" jutsu? Indra's side or Ashura's side?

Ashura's side is all about peaceful and teamwork.

Indra's side is all about power and might, doing everything yourself.

So wouldn't it be safe to say that the 8 gates jutsu was created from Indra's side?

I'd say a mix of both. Indra's side would have an understanding of chakra points and chakra flow in the body because they can see it with their eyes. So they would understand how releasing large amounts of it would lead to increased strength and what points in the body are activated.

Ashura's side would understand the drawbacks, since they deal with life force and stamina and medical stuff. They would understand that going too far would kill you (I guess anyone who can see the chakra flow would know this). But Ashura's side would very much know the implications on organs and the body in general.

Just thinking about it simply I would say ashuras side, although since anyone can theoretically use the gates I personally don't think it was around back then, but that's just me. I say ashura simply cause his decendants where of the "body" and using the gates takes a strong body to begin with

No, Hyuga exist which means some of Hamura's descendants stayed on earth. The ability to control the inner coils comes from Hamura's lineage not Hagoromo's. Indra and Ashura didn't have the ability to invent a way of manipulating the tenketsu.

8 Gates is the manipulation of chakra points, in order to invent Gates style Indra and Ashura would've required a Byakugan to understand how chakra flow works which neither of them possess. Besides, Senju and Uchiha were known as ninjutsu specialists not taijutsu specialists.

One of the reason why i think it was Indra's side is because they don't give a damn about the backlash of achieving higher power even if it mean death.

I think the 8 gates is an incomplete jutsu. Only a person with fully chakra manipulation and godly chakra control to master it to a point where they won't die at all.

No one has he ability to learn how the chakra pathway system works unless they can see it, the ability to use chakra openings for taijutsu was invented by Hyuga, either Hamura or one of his descendants invented the Gates style

That is possible. Byakugan user being the taijutsu type plus their ability to see chakra points inventing the technique as a last resort would make the most sense imo. Good point.

Well Tobirama did invent the Edo tensei, so there is every possibility that someone like Tobirama invented the 8 Gates as a forbidden last resort sacrificial technique. Indra's descendants are very unlikely to develop it considering their clan mainly specialized with doujutsu and ninjutsu.
