What are the chances of WW3?

The thing that would most likely set off WW3 is the oil crisis. Russia and Norway are in dispute over land in the Arctic for oil. And I believe Russia made their move to go ahead and claim that land without Norway's consent.

They also have a dispute about a fishing zone which is claimed by Norwegians as theirs but negated by Russians

WW3 already happened; the Cold War. There's one very simple reason why it was called the Cold War, because there wasn't any actual (major) fighting. The Great War happened because already existing high tensions were 'blown up' with the murder of the Archduke and his wife. Is that a repeatable scenario? Not likely. The movement of major leaders is much more tightly guarded nowadays, and how potential assassinations are approached would be majorly different, not to mention that the state of relations and political stances aren't conducive to war like it was back then.

WW2 happened (at the very root) because Germany lost in WW1. The proud country had its ego dented and its confidence knocked and for all of Hitler's twisted need to make up for his own personal shortcomings, he offers the German people "a hope" to restore their pride. It was really quite like what Madara did to Obito; took advantage of the darkness in their hearts. Anyway, by invading Poland, Germany had broken the Treaty of Versailles and that forcibly pulled Britain and France into war. But there's more to both; in short, a collection of reasons encouraged both wars.

The end of WW2 brought a haunting realization; one that would deter fighting between countries, the dawn of the nuclear weapon. After seeing and coming to understand the full effects of it, all major leaders for generations past and present would fear them. This is why there was no major physical war during that period. The closest we ever got was during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and both ballsed out because they knew what was at stake. And Khrushchev of all leaders was ballsy and reckless at the best of times - that alone should tell you enough about the power of nuclear warheads' presence.


On top of this, we need to consider that unlike in WW1/2, countries are dependant on each other financially and for resources... this alone massively reduces the incentive for world war.
