Dean makes his way to the training field, his bag on his back and his body covered by his dark Nekura cloak and under it his usual attire of a shirt and jeans. Dean wore no headband, and within his bag were a bunch of scrolls of different types. Making his way there, he easily recognized his student, who had come to learn Genjutsu from him. He had taught the skill so many times, yet he still found it to be as great as the first time. He always learns something new as well. Nonetheless, clearing his throat, Dean strode forth, making his prescence known to his student.
"Heyo, I'm Dean. I'll be teaching you Genjutsu. Your name? OH, and what is Genjutsu, really? Anything about it that comes to mind, from what it is, how its broken, etc."

Leaning slightly against a tall oak tree I watch as a man approaches me. I was expecting someone to arrive shortly so this must have been my soon to be sensei. I nod as the man stops before me and speaks. He introduces himself formally before asking me the question of the day in regards to genjutsu.
"I go by Hibari of house Katsuryoku. Genjutsu essentially is the displacement of chakra from user to opponent to hinder one's ability to focus. I view it as more of a supplementary skill however it can be used offensively. To my knowledge the known defenses against genjutsu are strong chakra surges to over power the chakra used for the genjutsu technique or overwhelming pain."
Learned all others before this one, I don't remember learning this one. However since I can't find the link if we have to start from scratch that's ok

Description: A very simple yet powerful paralysis genjutsu. The user will cast an illusion which sole purpose is to restrict and paralyze he target. The technique can be cast on more than one opponent at a time, though with the cost of power. The stronger the user is in genjutsu determines how strong their technique is. Non-genjutsu specialists can only cast only use the C-ranked version of this technique and use it on up to two others making the hold D-rank for each individual person. Users with genjutsu as their secondary specialty can use the B-ranked version of this technique and cast the jutsu on a maximum of three people. Users with genjutsu as their primary specialty can use the A-ranked version of this technique and cast the technique on a maximum of three people. Members who specialize in genjutsu are immune to this technique being placed upon them on others with a lower skill level than them; i.e a users with a secondary specialty can't use this on a primary specialist, only those of equivalent rank or lower can be caught with this technique.

Just to be safe, we'll start from scratch. Now that I have a laptop, it won't take long fam.
"Ah alright, let's see."
Dean says, as he opens his bag and brings out a small scroll. From this scroll, he summons forth various guides and teachings, all Genjutsu related.
"Okay, so Genjutsu is quite a complex skill yet easy to execute. Normally, a person's chakra flow is steady. However, Genjutsu works by disturbing the opponent's chakra flow and thus, allowing you to alter their five senses causing them to either see things, hear things, smell things, taste things or feel things, or a combination of the five (depends on the Genjutsu used). A trigger is usually used like a hand seal, or sound, and even light. Nonetheless, starting with Genjutsu now, how will you know if I placed you in a Genjutsu now? How would you be able to recognize it?"

"Perception is key when deciphering if caught within a genjutsu. One of the more simple ways is to simply pay attention and notice any unnatural shifts or anomalies in location or behavior. Another would be if one had a doujutsu, they could see the disturbance of chakra flow. Other than that I have no idea." I shrug as I give my response.

"Good, that's basically it, pay attention to what's going on around you. Where did this come from, why are these snakes suddenly around me but I didn't see my opponent form the summoning hand seals nor a puff of smoke emerge, etc. Yes, Doujutsu can see the chakra flow, but they need a reason why as to look at it, same with sensors. Genjutsu have tell tales most of the time, though some are designed to make you think wrong, though always be sure to first detect a Genjutsu before breaking it. Nonetheless, speaking of breaking, how would you break a Genjutsu if I placed one on you now?"

"Genjutsu can be broken in two ways. A strong surge of energy or chakra or physical pain. By energy I mean, sage energe, natural energy spiritual energy and of course chakra. Physical pain has a limit it is used to snap you out of the illusion like a pinch to wake someone who is sleeping. Known chakra surges to release genjutsu, nagashi, hardening technique and kai. Anything that surges chakra throughout the body rapidly and intensely."

"Alright, not bad, but you confused two of them. There are actually, three ways to do it. First method is as you said, Pain. A normal chakra flow consist of a balance between the physical and spiritual energies. After a Genjutsu is cast, the chakra is flow unbalanced, now pain, disturbs the physical energy, causing it to almost reset and go back to normal, breaking the Genjutsu in the process. It's like a spike in your chakra, the more pain experienced, the greater the spike. This means, the pain needed is directly proportional to the rank of Genjutsu that needs to be broken. A higher Genjutsu would need more pain than a lower ranking one, for example. Anyway, here's a small guideline on how much is needed for a certain rank of Genjutsu."

"Lastly, there is the one where a foreign chakra is introduced into the affected person's body. The chakra flow is unbalanced, and suddenly, a new foreign chakra enters, and disrupts it, resetting it back to normal. This comes forth when the affected person uses Sage Mode (natural energy being the foreign chakra), or Curse Mark (again), or if the affected person is a Jinchuuriki, their Bijuu acts as a constant Genjustu deterrent. Opening the EIG also works in the same way (second method though, since its a release of a lot of chakra). This can break any Genjutsu, bar MS or EMS Genjutsu."

"Got any questions? Oh, and have you heard of layering Genjutsu?"
"Secondly, we have the one where you will this time cause a spike in your spiritual chakra, through sheer will with a strong technique known as a surge technique. These are techniques that release a large amount of chakra from many of your tenketsu and cause a spike in the spiritual energy, thus resetting the chakra flow and bring it back to normal, breaking the Genjutsu in the process. This can be done with the Kai technique (more on that later) or an elemental technique like Chidori Nagashi, for example. However, an elemental technique that is classified as a surge needs to be one rank higher than the Genjutsu cast on you, to almost like overtake the chakra and break it. So Chidori Nagashi is A rank, and is able to break B rank and below Genjutsu, for example. And the other Earth technique (Hardening) is S rank, can break A rank and below Genjutsu. Anyway, that's the second method."

"Ah, Layering of Genjutsu is simple. Its basically mixing or combining up to two Genjutsu together, in order to deepen them, or make them harder to break. The thing is, these two Genjutsu techniques have to be non-conflicting, and it still takes two time slots in the time frame to do it (unless its one technique). So basically, it can be a Genjutsu that first makes you see the environment change to a desert, and if you break that one, it changes to a forest. Nonetheless, another important thing about Layering genjutsu is that the highest ranking one has to be cast first, then a lower ranking one. For example, first an A rank Genjutsu, then a B rank Genjutsu, if the lower ranking one is cast first, and then a higher ranking one, it will flush out the chakra and just leave the higher ranking one. The final rank of two combined Genjutsu is the higher ranking ones' rank, so if I mix an A rank, and a B rank, the final result will just be an A rank, also, it is just broken the same as you would a normal A rank, in this case."

"A pretty simple technique where you will cast a Genjutsu over the opponent. This allows you to manipulate the way they perceive the surroundings around them. This Genjutsu is based on sight, so it can be used to change say a desert, to a forest, or even create a hole in the ground or make a fake swamp of the underworld (although it won't its characteristics, it can be used to change the direction of your opponent). Anything that has to do with the terrain can be manipulated, and as such, it makes it easy to turn the tide of the battle though its pretty weak and if not used creatively, can easily be noticed and broken before it reaches its purpose. Nonetheless, try it out against my clone. Detail is key."

Seeing the clone running at me I displace my chakra through the running clone thus casting an illusion on him. As he is running he will begin to see the very ground h is running on opening up in various places causing it to look like he is running through a terrain with multiple craters. This would effectively make the clone should he want to change his course of running.

The petals then surround the opponent, blocking his vision and allow you to attack in reality whilst this is happening. Pretty useful technique if you are fast, and can deliver a quick Taijutsu based attack. Use it against my clone."

Seeing another clone running at me, I dash at him as well while performing 5 hand seals. I emit chakra into the clone making him see me dispersing into an array of flower petals which block his vision while in reality I dropped in level and delivered a swift rising uppercut, knocking him out.
"Easy enough."

I would use this in battle as an opening distraction to attack from another angle

"A simple technique where you will form a single hand seal, and induce the Genjutsu. This causes the opponent to see a clone run towards him, but in reality, it is a paper bomb you threw. Once it reaches the opponent, it explodes furiously. Use it against my clone."

Once again a clone was running at me, I quickly perform a single hand seal and displace his chakra making him see a clone of myself running back at him while in actuality I took out 3 paper bombs and threw them at the clone. They collide and the paper bombs explode ending the genjutsu and the clone.
