How does this work? When kakashi gets sucked in by obito and pops back out on his own, he's around the same spot iirc. Leading me to believe the distance traveled in kamui land is relative to where you pop out at when you leave. But we've seen obito go from place to place long distance using kamui, so how? Does he walk or physically travel the distance in kamui land and then just pop out when he wants?(although this seems pretty tedious and dumb) Or can he just open up a portal similar to kaguyas if he knows where he's going? And if this is the case would it be known as a different ability then the snipe and the phase through?

He opens portals so he travels instantaneously like Sasuke did when he was being retrieved in the sand dimension

I don't think where you appear is really relative to the kamui dimmension. You can just use the jutsu with a place you know in mind from the other dimension and you'll appear there.

Tobi said it was within his eye power to see and warp towards any location he chooses. It's what he told Sasuke.
And judging from the wild fire style blast, the right eye Kamui extends mid rang as a vortex before adding the flames. So I guess he shoots a vortex out to locate his destination.

You are basically opening a portal to get to point B or transferring everything into the space-time dimension. The abilities of the left and right eye are the same, although, the left is long range and the right is short range. The right eye also has the power to slip through things.

If their the same then did kakashi and obito just have their own different ways of using the same ability? I was gonna say kakashi can't phase but to be honest he never tried sniping himself as he didn't know as much about his eye ability as obito, so if your right I guess it's plausible

Kakashi doesn't have the chakra to travel like Obito. According to the databook, the chakra has to be proportionate to the object being warp. However, he has achieved it.

No, Kakashi cannot slip through things. That is the power held in the right eye.

I didn't answer your question about different usages of Kamui.

In my previous post, I was referring to the Kamui "snipe" as it is the same but varies on the range and usage. Kakashi used it long distance (example, against Deidara) and normally offensive. Obito used it a short distance (example, against Danzou's bodyguards Torune & Fū) and he was more versatile from warping people or objects/weapon or to even himself.
