Doton Bunshin is not a canon feat of Muu's. I mean, just because he has shown an advanced use of Doton, that doesn't mean he knows every basic Earth Style there is to be known.

Yea but he should be able to know the most basic of earth style elements, cloning is practically what's taught to academy students, as a kage, with higher forms of earth style techniques, he should know how to use clones

Lets keep to Canon feats. If we go by that logic I could just as easily say that Minato traps him inside a barrier before bombarding him with a Rasengan twenty five times his own size from above. If we try to assume what they can and can't do without any solid proof, like with Minato's elements, this will just turn into chaos.
