Your playstore is likely out of date, I suggest trying to update it, or force update it... depending on how old your device is.

My device isn't old, I just chose to stick to 4.4 and it seems most games now have a 5.0 and above minimum requirement

I see. I used to have an older tablet, that wouldn't let me download anything due to the the playstore.
