[Discussion] Luffy's Awakening/5th Gear

I was trying to come up with what Luffy's possible awakening or 5th gear may be and it seems extremely difficult to predict because Luffy's powers have so much versatility being rubber based. So then I had a thought that Luffy will probably unlock his new strength (Awakening/5th Gear) close to the end of the series to get him ready to face the main antagonist (Blackbeard).

With that being said, I think Oda would give Luffy an ability that put him on an equal playing field as Blackbeard, who currently has Gura-Gura and Yami-Yami and might possibly have a Zoan type by the EOS. So if we know all of that, what could luffy possibly do as a rubberman that will put him on the same level?

Possibilities:

- Full Manipulation of his elasticity: No longer needing to stretch or compress, just willing his body to do things (LAME)
- Turning his surroundings into rubber and controlling them through his will (Rubber water, Rubber Air, Rubber Ground)
- Something the resemble reality warping but with rubber properties


These are a few that I came up with, but I want to know what you guys have considered. The only one that I think that would be appropriate to confront EoS BlackBeard is my second opinion. Please share your thoughts.

Imagine a bunch of King Kong Gun punches flying at you while Luffy stares you down with his arms crossed.

I feel like there needs to be something more powerful than the current 4th gear. Blackbeard is coming in Haxx

He's talking about the bending reality part, he and Agent Phrank have posted something similar.

It would help against Logia(though not really BB) by providing a bunch of haki arms to attack with.

Grandted, that's not how it's going to go, because Oda is better than that, and if Whitebeard wasn't too strong for the Yami Yami no Mi, nothing is.

He can only nullify someone's power by coming into direct contact with the person

He needs to establish contact with them via his hands. Luffy punching or kicking him wouldn't negate his powers.

With a powerful enough attack, Luffy can hit BB and knock him back far enough to make him lose contact with Luffy.

You misunderstand. Blackbeard needs to establish contact with Luffy in order for Blackbeard to take Luffy's powers. If Luffy just punches Blackbeard, then Luffy's powers will remain intact. If Luffy is standing 10 meters away and punches Blackbeard, that contact between Luffy's fist and Blackbeard's cheek wouldn't cause Luffy's powers to be deactivated.
