You see if Hinata got her powerup in the manga itself there would have been no need for the filler movie called the Last. I doubt she could do much even with her Rikudo powerup because in the movie all it did was enhance Naruto's chakra. It didn't do any damage. I thinking being there itself would give her some development but you are probably right, because of her lack of medical ninjutsu she wouldn't be an asset to this team as Sakura was.

Hinata fans always complain about her lack of development as the Hyuga's heiress so maybe if this scenario happened in the manga they wouldn't be crying more.



Yeah you're right, Hinata did absolute jack but perhaps she didn't get as much screentime as Sakura so no one really bothered about her. I mean who would care about Hinata's lackluster feats when you have Naruto and Sasuke.

I see where you are going with this. Honestly I agree somewhat. But for her to hold any real development and relevance beyond pairing material for Naruto, a few things would have had to have been introduced earlier:

1.) Hamura- mentioning Hamura and Kaguya pre war would have given her the opportunity to become more relevant to the grand sceme of things and could have even set her up to receive Tenseigan instead of Toneri( this assuming we omit everything that involves The Last)

2.) Alone Time- if they wanted Hinata's pairing to seem more organic perhaps she should have accompanied Naruto to Turtle island aling with Iruka so they could actually develop a romance and train together, Neji should have been there too to teach her Heavenly Rotation and everything else she was lacking standard to the Hyuuga. This could also be we here they start Lear ing about Hamura and Temseigan.

3.) stop having her trip over simple rocks.
