What fan of Naruto would not watch the movie but wait a year to read a crappy drawn retelling?

The reason we're getting a retelling is because the new author has a lack of his own ideas. Otherwise he would've picked up where the movie left off. Or at least done a 2 page summation of it. Not 3-5 chapters retelling the movie.
