Yeah the OG decks were the best. Every deck in GX, and other characters in duel monsters all had the same type of card. It was repetitive

No. What makes YGO! such a great game is the huge level of diversity it offers when making a deck and the amount of combos that rises in direct proportion to that.

If we had what you're proposing (basically the first year of the game) we'd lose just that and for what? Nostalgia. Nostalgia that would pass after a few matches and that would be it. The game would've died in it's third year had it stayed that way.

No, it would be boring as hell. This game offers so much diversity and most of that is down to combos using effect monsters. What would you do with Normal Monsters only? Set your Giant Soldier of Stone, hope your card doesn't get swung over and then Tribute Summon for Summoned Skull... That's it. Maybe a good old fashioned Polymerisation or something... Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon would be the boss monster for everyone's deck.

It would be too boring and decks would look literally the same. Everyone would just run the best 1-4 star beater for example.

The 5D's era was imo by far the best tactic and fun wise with plant synchro etc. Zexal and especially Arc V pushed the OP shit too much. It's not fun to me anymore.
