They could've been integrated very well into Naruto's arsenal given how they can immobilize even Boss-Sized Summons, use their tongues to subdue Naruto's opponent from a longer range, take advantage of Ma and Pa's techniques to either blind his opponent or perform elemental combos, and even use them to analyze his opponent's abilities better. Unfortunately, they just weren't fleshed out after the Pain Arc.
