Anybody following this?

I cant wait for euros to start but copa America games are overall a lot more exciting since the teams just 100% go for it. Or rather they did last time I watched, I've decided to watch highlights of most games since they're always on at 3am my time.

The problem with the Copa America is that it's practically held annually and all South-American teams participate without qualifying rounds (because they don't have enough teams for that) and those are the same teams who also play against each other to qualify for the World Cup. The only variation are the occasional guest teams. Add to that the fact the time difference and the overlap with the Eurocup and yeah most attention will flow to the latter.

I think it would be much more popular if they would make one huge tournament for the entire American continent and only hold every 4 years or something.

They just had copa america a year ago, this one is just a 100 years anniversary for the tourney which is why its a fake copa america.

Same here, though I might watch tonight's game (Uruguay vs Venezuela) cos it's on a bit earlier, at around 12:30am.

I am sort of supporting Chile because Sanchez plays for them, and I'm an Arsenal fan. A bit shallow, maybe, but I have no other reason to support any other team.

I sort of agree with you, but maybe every 3 years and avoid timing it with World Cup and Euros so it gets more attention. And as well as the entire American continent I feel as though they should have more guest teams which would otherwise only compete in WC (outside of their small tournaments).

Not the reaction I expected but it made me laugh.

Have to agree with Caliburn on this one. I initially had the thought that; "Hey, doesn't the Copa America play way too often? Maybe it's just my imagination," but now I've got that confirmed.

Another thing is that teams like Brazil, who should easily have had 9 points in their group, and other big team like Uruguay (who have won the tournament 8 and 15 times respectively with Argentina on 14), always seems to somehow manage to fu*k up in these tournaments as of late (with the exception of last year when Uruguay won), like they don't take it seriously. Both out in the Group Stage against teams they should easily beat if they faced them in the World Cup. The only team that seems to take this cup seriously out of the big teams this year, is Argentina. Otherwise it seems like teams like Columbia as of late has been the ones that seems to go all the way.

Heck, Brazil even prioritized the Olympic Games... The OLYMPIC GAMES over Copa America. That's like prioritizing winning the Club World Cup over winning the Champions League. I mean, Neymar was only allowed to participate in either one of those two tournaments by Barca this summer, and he picked the Olympic Games over Copa America. Home turf or not, that says it all really.
