Lets see... If Ace hadn't died then:

Luffy would be dead.
Akainu is still angry.
Ace dies anyway.

Idk if Ace really has a better growth rate than Luffy. The gap in strength between Ace when he fought Jinbe and MF Ace didn't seem that wide, and look at the gap in strength between pre-TS and post-TS Luffy. Even though Ace wouldn't have been training as much as TS Luffy, he was still being trained by WB and growing in strength from fighting WB's enemies in the NW. So if Ace really has a better growth rate than Luffy, then I don't see how it's possible that Ace was only as strong as he was after that 3 year period. Also, I don't agree with using kid ASL's strength ranking to say that's how it will be/would have been. Using that logic, Ace would have been stronger than pre-TS Sabo, and I just don't see that being true since Ace was only the 5th strongest WB Pirate while Sabo was already the RA Second-in-command. And that logic would also mean that Sabo should be stronger than Luffy by EOS, which obviously won't happen.

That's assuming Sabo stays alive until the end of the manga of course. Also being the 5th strongest WB compared to the 2nd in command of the revs isn't comparable unless we can compare the rev army to the WB's Ivan was a pretty high up member of the Revs but Marco, Jozu and others could beat him. We don't know anything else about the revs fighters, just because their number 2 is high doesn't mean they'll all be in that realm, what if Hack is number 5?

That's assuming Sabo stays alive until the end of the manga of course. If he does survive until EOS he will clearly be weaker than Luffy. Even if the RA is weaker than the WB Pirates (they should be close in power), it would still be weird if the 5th strongest WB Pirate is stronger than the 2nd strongest RA member. We don't know Ivankov's exact rank in the RA. He could be the Ace of the RA, and I can see Ivankov being Ace level based on his portrayal.

Not that it matter to me(considering Ace's overall portrayal as well as the Burgess comparison matters more to me than a difference in ranking we know nothing about), but
Sabo being 2nd in command before the timeskip is a misstranslation
In the viz, he is only referred as a commander
