I am extremely blunt when i say shit and most people take offense.

So my go to move now is say nothing and throw em a towel and point to the bathroom.

if they ask WTF simply say: "before you embarass yourself any further, you need one. you're welcome."

make sure that they understand that you are trying to help them out and leave no room for them to think that you are insulting them.

because "you smell like shit. take a shower" can be taken as offensive if you leave enough time for them to think you meant it as an insult rather than helping them.
