Hey People!

I was thinking of getting a few seeds to start 3-4 Japanese Maple Bonsais...
So i thought i'd ask here if anyone have some knowledge on Bonsai Trees?

Like for example, how to i make the tree stop growing on height once i think it's high enough, without risking to never get new branches?
Or are new branches guranteed?
Can i just cut the tree however i want as long as it's the right "season" ?

If i cut a branch... will it re-grow?

If you have any idea, please comment and help a brother out!

Thanks in advance

I don't necessarily know much about bonsai trees but I know a lot about plants
From my understanding a big factor is the size of the pot
Plant it in a small pot and when the tree gets tall cut it in half and it will bush out, you'll have to do that a few times

No
That will cause it to get bushier
And you should probably take kingus advice.I was just giving an example.it'd be better to cut it shorter like he stated

The growth of a bonsai is determined by the size of the container; the smaller it is, the less the roots can grow. Branches are controlled by trimming and pruning.

Cut off branches do grow back, usually with smaller leaves. And yes, you can cut it however you want (best time for pruning is Spring/Summer).

I read something like that a while back. Four types of Bonsai trees but I completely forgot. Something about fertilizing, trimming, something like that lol

The problem is in the terminology itself! There is no such thing as a Bonsai tree. Bonsai = Nihong term of saying "art of dwarf trees"

That's cruel. That tree could have grown big and had fruits.
