Personally, I'm not to fone of tats on my body. Although, I did give it some thought, but ultimately its not for me because how I imagine when I'm old.

I don't think it's the tattoos but the way you choose them. Such as, if you have a musical note on your arm, then you look harmless and not so tacky as oppose to someone whom chooses skulls, knives or whatnot.
