So this is what happen Boruto is dying, Sarada is trying to save him like Tsunade was Dan. Her medical ninjutsu isn't working because the damage is to severe, Boruto is missing an eye, and his vital points are hit. Sarada rips out her own eye, and activates Izanami you know the one Danzo used, on Boruto.

And then she regenerates herself another eye, And Awakens a potent like EMS Sharrigan or Rinnegan, because you remember obito said that the vast chakra on the 10 tailed beast will strengthen his sharrigan, well Byakugou does that for Sarada,

Izanami isnt just an extra life. it changes a specific event in exchange for eyesight. Sarada would be able to change the event of boruto's death without transplanting her eye.

Even besides that, this theory gives no explanation of why he keeps it closed until the battle with kawaki. its clearly a powerup thing, not just being blind.
