The clouds above the Las Vegas sky flicker with lightning as a small orange light glows from one of the rooms of the Avengers pent house. Hinata awakes to find her bed on fire and her skin glowing red slowly fading back to its original color. She jumps from the bed screaming and her windows shatter causing an alarm to go off and an iron robot to burst into her room with its canon arm pointed towards her. Naruto suddenly teleports beside the robot lowering its arm.
“Lower that thing! Not like you could hurt her with it anyways…” Naruto says as Hinata runs to him holding on to his arm. The two watch as the flames from the bed levitate into the air and form into a phoenix that scowls down at them.
“Take the woman into the skies. Or all mutants that live upon this Earth will die in a violent swing, of my Phoenix wings.” It says, as the Phoenix then flies out the penthouse and into the clouds. Naruto and Hinata turn to find Charles and a group of other Avengers X standing at the door.
“Everyone to the rooftop.” Charles says.
“Damn what’s up with the rooftop? We can’t just have a meeting indoors for once.” Tony asks.
“To the damn rooftop Tony.” Steve says as the Avengers take the elevator to the roof, where they find large light rays shining from the skies and hitting the ground.
“What the hell is going on?” Steve asks.
“It’s…. oh God…” Charles says.
“Reports of mutants running rampant across all of Nevada. Stealing vehicles. Busses. They must all be headed towards us.” Tony says.
“It gave us a choice. Turn in Hinata or we get it ****.” Deadpool says.
“We get it what?” Ino asks.
“Something Sasuke is gonna do to you in your dreams one day.” Deadpool says petting Ino’s hair as she smacks away his hand.
“We are not giving up Hinata. No matter what.” Naruto says grabbing her hand.
“He’s right. If they gain control of her they will have a host. They will be controlling yet another person whose personality will be masked under their control. They will be at their strongest as well.” Natasha says nodding at Naruto.
“This isn’t even a discussion. Let’s suit up and try to subdue these mutants without injuring them. When you are already we will exit through the lobby. Together.” Steve says.
Hinata slowly slides on her boots and zips the up. She grabs the next boot and attempts to zip it down but struggles. She pulls harder tearing the boot in half and she throws the boot at the wall in frustration. Peter slowly enters the room and reaches into her locker grabbing another boot zipping it down.
“Please, allow me.” Peter says as Hinata sits with a blank stare on her face. She looks away from Peter who looks up, giving a concerning look.
“I understand you may think this is all happening because of you, and the fact that we took cosmic energy from the Negative Zone. But to be completely honest what is about to happen is not your doing.”
“I understood that from the moment I found out. I didn’t need you to tell me that. I know who I am Peter. And I’m not this… Phoenix thing everyone keeps talking about. I am a Hyuga. I am a ninja. You can’t let them take that away from me. From all of us.”
Peter zips up the boot and stands to his feet and begins to walk from the room as he does he turns around looking Hinata in the eyes.
“I can’t make any more promises.” Peter says as he leaves the room.
Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi all leave from their quarters at the same time. Each one of them is wearing a leather suit with the capital letter A on the back along with the hidden leaf village symbol imbedded into it. On their belt is an assortment of ninja gear, ranging from short distance stealth bombs, to a long distance dart shooter and a spear gun for tactical maneuvers.
“All of this extra equipment isn’t needed to be honest. With all that we can do now, what is the need for things like kunai’s and smoke bombs?” Sakura says.
“You never know how long this fight could last. Once you hit your limit and you don’t have anything left to give out. That kunai may be your last chance of survival.” Kakashi says.
“Kakashi sensei is right. We’re not for sure just how powerful that Phoenix Force is.” Naruto says.
“Well… before we go out there. There is something I want to tell the two of you.” Kakashi says.
“Yea? What is it sensei?” Sakura asks.
“Once we make it out of this… if we do… what do you think the ninja world will be like when we return?” Kakashi asks.
“That’s a hard question really… Naruto what do you think?” Sakura asks.
“Killer Bee is there to protect everyone, though I’m not sure how long he will manage when all he likes to do is rap ha! But I’m sure everything will be fine… we’ll return and… we’ll start on with our lives from there.” Naruto says.
“Haha! Couldn’t have said it better myself.” Sakura says smiling. Making Kakashi and Naruto grin as well.
“I for one think we should all go to Ichiraku’s.” Kakashi says.
“Aw! I forgot all about that one! That’s definitely the first thing on our list!” Naruto says.
“Really Naruto? You don’t want to go and address the council and the rest of the villages on what has happened?” Sakura asks, creating debate that begins to linger on as Kakashi watches and smiles. He thinks back on when they were only academy students having just graduated, and how he became to admire them. When at first, he could not stand them. For now, he couldn’t picture his life without his students.
“Charles… are you sure we should be doing so much fighting. Taking Hinata outside may lure the Phoenix out and we would have a better chance of…”
“No Emma. That’s entirely too much of a risk. We will not let another person fall victim to this damn Force. They are no better than kidnappers. Taking control of a person’s entire body. What kind of sick game is this?” Charles says.
“A game we have been destined to play over and over again apparently.” Logan says putting on his mask and lighting his cigar.
“There’s just so much blood being spilled… I can’t blame you for wanting this to end so quickly.” Rogue says.
“It’s not surprising though. Look at how much has happened over the years since their arrival. The chain of events that has been set off since then is just… astronomical… we need to get them home because personally I think it’s setting off an imbalance in our universal chain of events.” Angel says.
“You could be right… but the theories and such will have to wait. We have some more Avengers.” Charles says as the large elevator slowly reaches the bottom floor and the doors open up. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Black Panther, Vision, Winter Soldier, Quake, Spider-Women, She-Hulk, and Namor.
“That’s a lot of Avenging.” Clinton says.
“Yea I know. Even more of a reason we don’t need you.” Shikamaru says grinning.
“Beginning to think you all decided to take a sick day.” Tony says as Daredevil leads the group from the elevator.
“We both know this is a job we can’t afford to lose.” Daredevil says.
“Of course if there’s too many of us I guess about let’s say… two of us could just call it a day.” Luke says.
“Not an option. We’re Avengers not hotel receptionists.” Jessica says.
“Now this is what I call a damn headquarters! WHOOO!!!” Spider-Woman says, her voice echoing through the halls.
“Long time no see!” Peter says giving Spider-Woman a hug.
“Ah! If it isn’t the man who saved the world.” Quake says patting Peter on the back.
“Wasn’t my first time heh.” Peter says.
“So you going to introduce us Tony?” Black Panther asks.
“Oh of course they all know who you are. Over the years we gave them a lot of information on the heroes that they hadn’t met yet so we’re good.” Tony says.
“And you decided to not let us in on some information about them. How will we be able to work with all of these ninja!?” Black Panther asks.
“Hey now let’s calm down. I can give you a brief battle lesson by no other than my fair Lady Tsunade herself. Now my fair lady will you escort these fine heroes and heroines to the lobby over there for your brief teaching class. You got about 15 to 20 minutes alright go! Go!” Tony says slapping Tsunade's ass.
“The hell did I tell you about that!?” Tsunade says punching Stark in the stomach and into the glass elevator wall. Stark slowly jumps down dusting all the glass from his suit as he walks over to Steve who stands at the front window of the Penthouse.
“Look like ya got something on your mind Cap. We can’t go out here with bad leadership.” Tony says smiling.
“Ha! Like I’d ever be off the rocks at a time like this…” Steve says looking up at the bright red sky.
“So you and Tsunade… is that really a thing?” Steve asks. Tony sighs and looks out at Nevada as the bleeding edge armor forms from his skin.
“I never knew she would be anything but bitter to me after our first war against Thanos. But after it was over she had come to me in tears Steve. She wanted to know if they’d ever return home. I told her you will, you’ll return there’s absolutely nothing to worry about because Strange will wake soon. Then she begins to call me a liar. Curses my name tells me that we’re keeping them captive here at the Tower. I told her that was insane I mean w… what would we gain from that ya know? I told her you can leave any time you want. I’ll give you money to go out and see our Earth for yourself enjoy your time here while you are here. If freedom is what you want you can have it. Next she just… grew silent. It’s as if she realized that she was completely hopeless in this situation where she was the leader in everyone’s eyes. Of course I attempt to console her I put my hand on her shoulder but she bring it in for a hug and a kis and well… here we are Steve…”
“Yea… here we are.” Steve says smiling.
“Ya know Tony I’m happy for…”
“Wait a second you see that?” Tony says pointing at an all-white woman with hair to her legs floating in the air.
“The hell is that?” Black Panther asks.
“I don’t know but you guys will have to do with the time ya got!” Steve says kicking open the door to the Penthouse.
“Avengers! Assemble!!!” Steve yells as the squad dashes into the streets towards the woman who creates a white shield around herself. It begins to expand and touches the ground as the Avengers begin moving closer.
“Find cover she’s about to attack!” Steve says as he dashes behind a car and the white shield passes over it making the car explode. Steve flies into the air and Naruto catches him with a chakra hand.
“Take this thing out Naruto!” Steve says as Naruto punches the shield with his charka fist making it shatter to pieces. As pieces of the shield fall to the ground. It exposes the mass army of red eyed mutants.
“So while that shield was expanding in size… it gave them time to close in on us…” Cyclops says.
“Charles, is everything alright inside of the penthouse?” Tony ask.
“Yes. Miss Hyuga and I are safe inside.” Charles says.
“Awesome. Next form of action Captain?”
“Naruto, Sakura and Peter I need for you three to locate the Phoenix Force!” Steve says.
“Wait do you mean like go into space?” Sakura asks.
“Yes I need you to go into space.” Steve says.
“Ugh, I hate space.” Sakura says as she, Naruto and Peter bolt into the sky.
“I told you all to bring the woman to me. But instead you want to fight. I will not be giving you a fight. I will presenting you with a massacre.” The women in white says in an evil decrepit voice.
“That’s creepy. Oh MAN that’s creepy!” Deadpool says as the woman shoots a bolt of white lightning at Deadpool knocking him into a car windshield.
“Forward!!!!” Steve yells and The Avengers all dash forward. The Evil Mutants move forward as well and they collide creating a large yell throughout Nevada. Civilians run rampant through the streets as each hero defends them from the evil mutants who are in a full rampage.
Black Panther reaches the woman in white who shoots a stream of white bolts at Black Panther who jumps across cars dodging them. He leaps into the sky almost reaching her when she unleashes another shield making a large wave of energy that creates a large boom in the air. The streets crack and begin to peel back into the air as everyone is blown back by the wave. The ninja fly through the air towards the woman and Shikamaru throws two robotic Kunai that hit the ground and two large silver ropes latch to both of her arms covering them in thick metal. Ino then teleports behind her hitting the woman neck, knocking her out instantly.
“One down.” Shikamaru says as the women’s skin begins to glow red.
“Shikamaru what’s happ….”
The woman explodes and blood flies through the air covering half of Ino’s face that her arms did not cover. Ino slowly lowers her arms looking down at her bloody hands and at the remaining pieces of the mutant’s body.
“O…Oh God what... is this?” Ino asks.
“It’s true war… It seems we will not be able to capture them. If we are indeed able to… They will self-destruct before our eyes.” Black Panther says.
“So what’s the best line of action here, because this is killed or be killed and quite honestly… I don’t see any other choice here than to sit here and let these people be burn out from the inside out!” Daredevil says.
“I say… I say we just continue to try and capture them maybe that was just a part of her powers or something.” Jessica says.
“It wasn’t! I saw the force move within her!” Shikamaru says.
“Watch your six!” Clinton says shooting an arrow that unleashes large metal wires that wrap around a large hairy growling mutant.
“There’s only one way to find out what’s going on here!” Daredevil says knocking out the mutant. The group of Avengers stand and wait as the hairy mutant’s skin begins to glow red.
“Daredevil move back!” Steve yells as the mutant explodes spraying blood into the air. Daredevil still stands In front of the mutant in complete stillness as the blood drips from his entire body.
“Peter, Naruto, Sakura…. You have to stop this!” Daredevil says into his headset as he dashes down the street and runs into a mutant that begins to teleport around him. The mutant teleports behind him kicking Daredevil in the back then in front of Daredevil who head butts the mutants face making it cave in. Daredevil then kicks the mutant in the face knocking him out and rushes past him to the next mutant.
“Hold the line! Hold the line!” Luke Cage says as a mutant with sharp green scales for skin flaps up a large gill from the side of his arm swinging it at Luke’s chest. The gill breaks to pieces and Luke smiles kicking the mutant onto the ground. Daredevil kicks the mutant in the stomach and does a backflip over him, kicking a blue mutant in the neck. Daredevil rolls on the ground as both mutants explode behind him.
“Wait! There may be another way of doing this Daredevil!” Emma says running beside him and they both turn back to back. Mutants begin to circle around them as the two heroes eyes dart back in forth waiting for the first opponent.
“I can try to shut them down with my mind.” Emma says.
“Not going to work. Phoenix Force is within them Emma they will keep you out, and if the Force senses them inside they will explode for sure.” Daredevil says.
“Okay then plan B. We get Iceman to subdue them. Without knocking them out!” Emma says giving Daredevil a glare.
“Don’t know why we didn’t think of that earlier. Iceman did you get all of that?”
“Yea, I’ll see what I can do!” Iceman says throwing darts of ice at a group of mutants attaching them to the side of a building.
“Seems like everything is…”
The mutant’s then self-destruct, as a large red female mutant made entirely of lava levitates into the sky.
“Every single one of these creatures will parish if you do not give up that one woman. Shall you let millions die? Or will you sacrifice one life for the greater of good. I won’t be killing her. I will only be making her stronger!” The lava mutant says.
“You’ll be taking away her being. And we can’t let you take that to a person.” Steve says.
“Is that so? Then why is it you let me do that to all these mutants that surround you today?” The mutant says, making Steve scowl and put away his shield.
“What if we chose to not fight against you, but instead put a wall between these mutants and the penthouse? Us Avengers just sat there and watched from the inside.” Steve says.
“Then I would make these mutants fight each other to the death. Hopefully none of these civilians are murdered during the massive mutant massacre.”
Steve lowers his head and looks over at Tony who shakes his head in denial.
“Look I’m not the one to talk to alright… someone else is on the way to see you, and I’m sure he’ll be able to speak on things in a bit more graceful way, but from here on out…”
Steve is then stabbed in the stomach by an invisible object. As the blood spills from his guts it covers the invisible weapon, showing it to be a large spear.
“Lightning blade!” Kakashi yells slicing the invisible mutant in half.
“You son of a *****! You’ll pay for this! You won’t be able to take another being over ever again! I’ll make sure of it!” Tony yells shooting a large rocket at the mutant exploding its body.
“No… tell them… tell them not to kill the mutants… it’s not the mutant’s we have to find another way…” Steve says as he passes out.
“I’m going to take him back to the Penthouse and tend to his wounds. Kakashi you stay here and… fight off the mutants…” Tsunade says as she teleports away with Steve.
Tsunade appears behind Charles and Hinata who jerk their heads back in panic.
“Oh no… don’t tell me he’s…” Charles says hovering over to Tsunade.
“No… he’s just passed out from the pain... or the blood loss… or both I just…” Tsunade sheds tears as she jerks the spear from her fellow Avenger. She begins to quickly heal his wound. The organs and bone healing together at a rapid rate.
“This… all of this is happening because of the fact that they want me… All they want is me Lady Tsunade.” Hinata says.
“We’ve gone this far! Don’t you dare call the quits on me woman!” Tsunade yells.
“She’s right Miss Hyuga if you let them have their way with you, not only will that control your being but they will also possess even more power. They don’t need that power! They don’t deserve it! They will miss use it and we both know they will!” Charles says as Hinata stares down at the marble floor with a blank expression.
“I… I don’t think I ever told you more about Jean Grey. Did I?... She was a student of mine. She was one of the first to be taken control by the Phoenix Force. At first it was nothing but a mere imitation of what she once was. It’s like she had never left but, after a while the… clouds of judgment entered her mind. She turned evil and began wreaking havoc on other worlds killing billions upon billions… It was something she had to carry with her… something I don’t want you to have to carry… if I have to see someone else carry that weight again… But I’ll let this be solely up to you.”
Hinata looks at Charles, giving him a long cold stare that reaches into his mind making him look away.
“Where are the clothing chambers?” She asks.
“Jessica! On your right!” Luke says as Jessica Jones flies into the air dodging a blast of acid. She crashes back down with her knee hitting the slimy mutant in the head and she bounces backwards as the mutant explodes.
“The damn Phoenix was right! This is a complete massacre!” A yells.
“That doesn’t mean we just give up! There has to be a way we can stop this madness… all of this murder…” Mei says.
“We’re not getting out of this alive are we? Heh heh.” Darui asks slicing a mutants head off.
“We will!” Black Panther says kicking a mutant into Chōjūrō who uses his sword Hiramekarei, to slice the mutant. The mutant falls to the ground and blood burst into the air making Chōjūrō jump in panic.
“Don’t be afraid. We are the Avengers. We will avenge their sorrowed souls.” Vision says as he flies throughout the streets shooting away mutants with his beams. A flying mutant grabs onto this back making him crash onto the ground. As the mutant rolls on the cement, Hulk pick him up throwing him into a casino. Hulk grunts picking Vision up off the ground as they are both blasted into the casino by a large blue beam of fire. A muscular mutant with a blue aura around his hand grins as his red eyes light up.
Civilians that take refuge inside the Casino begin to run in panic as the mutant begins to shoot firey beams at them. Hulk dashes from the ground protecting the civilians by blocking each shot. One of the shot goes through his fingers hitting a woman in the chest, creating a burning hole through her entire body.
“No!!!” Winter Soldier says dashing over to a cop taking his gun and shooting the mutant in the head.
“I hate to have to be the one to say this but we’re holding back too much. What is it that you all don’t understand! If we don’t stop them they will kill these people!” Quake yells.
“Everyone understands! We just find it very difficult to kill innocent mutants!” Choji says.
“Did they not give you all proper training for things like this? It’s like you’ve never been on a mission a day of your lives.” Quake says.
“It’s not that. It’s the fact that we don’t like having to kill fellow comrades. You’re a mutant too right? Don’t you feel even the least bit of sympathy?” Gaara asks.
“I’m not a mutant. I’m an Inhuman. And yes I do… I’ve seen plenty of my own die… it’s unsettling to say the least. And I feel the same way now. I just need you all to understand that it’s our job to stop these people from destroying everything. It’s about the greater good. We have to hold this weight with us. As Avengers.” Quake says.
“As Avengers… I’ll been holding this weight my entire life, and listen bub. There ain’t nothing wrong with what we’re doing here. That… thing is killing these people. Not us.” Logan says as he runs to a mutant slashing its leg open as it attempts to attack Tony.
“Any word back from the three we sent into space?” Logan asks. Tony pauses his Gatling gun and looks back at Logan in silence.
“Where the hell are they Stark?”
“They… they haven’t even made it past the Stratosphere Logan.”
“What the hell are you… Tony do you know how many people are dying!? If we don’t stop this thing soon then…”
Logan pauses, along the rest of the Avengers. They all look over towards the penthouse. Each one of them in an expression of complete awe. Tony removes his armor from his face whispering out faintly.
“You weren’t supposed to…”
Stratosphere
A large flaming Phoenix shoots beams from its eyes as Naruto, Sakura, and Peter dash back I forth dodging each attack.
“It won’t listen to us! At this rate we’ll never make it to its main body!” Naruto says.
“That’s it! Shield yourselves!” Peter says as he dashes to the Phoenix hitting it with a large red rasengan that surrounds his fist.
“Rasengan KO Punch!” Peter yells as the Rasengan expands around the Phoenix exploding.
“These larger attacks are dangerous. We need to get farther away from the Earth if we’re going to be fighting with this much power.” Peter says as they begin to move up towards the Mesosphere.
“Before you continue!” A large voice rumbles through the sky as the three stop and look around.
“The hell was th…” Sakura pauses as she looks up to see the main embodiment of The Phoenix Force levitating above them.
“Dammit... we were to slow…” Peter says gritting his teeth.
“I was told you three wanted to have a chat with me.” The Phoenix says forming into a red skinned Jean Grey clone.
“Why go through all this effort. We’re not letting you take Hinata. I will die before that happens.” Peter says.
“I know you would, but you’re not here to make such bold statements are you?” She asks.
“No we aren’t. When Steve said someone was supposed to come speak to you. He was talking about me.” Naruto says.
“Ah… so what is it you have to say to me. Knucklehead ninja Naruto Uzumaki.”
“How do you know me by that?” Naruto asks.
“I’ve been peeping into the young woman’s mind from time to time.”
“Humph. Look, I don’t know what your goal is exactly. I mean I’ve had this explained to me I don’t know how many times. At the end of the day I’ve just come to the conclusion that you want to take away something that means a lot to me. And when someone is trying to do that I have to fight. Right now I’m trying to come to another conclusion that doesn’t involve that. So instead of taking Hinata. Take me instead. All that I ask. Is that you defeat a man named Sasuke when he returns to this planet.”
“Wait a second Naruto! Are you insane!? I’m not about to just let you throw away your life like this!” Peter says.
“Neither am I! Everyone in the Leaf Village needs you! I need you! Hinata needs you!” Sakura yells.
“I know, that’s why this has to happen. I have to protect the people who love me.” Naruto says.
“So what is it you Phoenix. Will you take me, the more superior host?”
“It isn’t about superiority, it’s about kinship.” Phoenix says as it disappears and large spears of flames shoot from the clouds beneath the heroes.
Las Vegas - Nevada
“Hinata no!!!” Tony yells as the lava covered mutant walks towards Hinata. Hulk attempts to attack the mutant but the mutant shoots him away with a giant blast of fire. Winter Soldier fires sniper rounds at the mutant but the bullets melt before reaching her body. Tony attempts to fly towards the mutant but it begins shooting pellets of lava from its body attempting to hit him.
“Think about what you’re doing Hinata! This won’t stop the reign of terror!” Shikamaru yells.
“Dammit Hinata don’t do this!” Lee yells.
“Hinata!!!” Temari yells as the ninja teleport to the mutant grabbing it’s boiling hot skin.
“We won’t let you do this!” Tenten yells.
“I’ve mad up my mind.” Hinata says teleporting to the mutant and putting her hand on it’s chest. Hinata’s green Phoenix suit begins to turn red as the force enters her body and she pushes the mutant away along with the ninja holding on to it.
“Death…” Hinata says as cyclones of flames burst from the ground, into the air and into the clouds.
“We’ve failed… it’s consumed her…” Tony says.
Peter, Naruto, and Sakura shoot from the clouds crashing into the ground with a loud boom. They stand in the dust clouds looking past the cyclones of fire that shoot into the sky, to find a red haired Hinata standing tall wearing a fiery red skin tight Phoenix suit.
“Hinata?... Hinata!?” Naruto yells.
“It entered her Naruto… she’s no longer the woman you knew before.” Rogue says.
“She’s the Dark Phoenix.”
Thanks for reading! I know I've taken a while to release a chapter but finding the inspiration to continue is really hard when there is no audience out there that wants to see these events play out. But for anyone who comes across this amazing tale, I hope you are enjoying it!
