I think the choice of saying that Rap is better than most genres of music was a bit of a mistake but I would say that at it's highest level it is more complex and skillfully constructed that any other form of music. Without a doubt.

Sure each genre has their own merits but even at its lowest (Desiigner "panda" or most future songs) it still has those internal rhymes schemes, and at the very least similes. Thats MILES ahead of where it started from.

Anyways its still my opinion at the end of the day. I'm not gonna look down on someone for feeling different

its not tainted its commercialized. instead of stressing the about lyrical skill they go for the bar minimum which is easier to digest (which again is still high compared to rap roots) and make money.

Also "today's" rap is not shit, it's just bit harder to find. You have to understand that rap has been there for quite some time, and the more you do something the more repetitive it gets, therefore originality, rhythm and even simple shit like rhyme handling are much more "criticizable" nowadays

Standards are quite high, and thus reaching them is harder for people nowdays. Take a look at Nas's ether and tell me when was the last time a diss track that hard came in in the 2000s and became as popular as it did back then.
