If you're still in the dark, I'm talking about DB Super

The general consensus as of right now is that the anime is considered canon and the manga is filler


So maybe manga = canon isn't as absolute as most people make it seem

In naruto the reverse is the case there is no equivalence here.

For DBS, the manga sure not canon(the manga already stop being published) bcus it started from Anime. Toriyama said the story will be in anime format and not manga

The manga is being made by someone who is not Akira Toriyama. He is mimicking the style he is doing.
Also the manga comes out after the episode in case you didn't notice that.

The reason it is called filler is because the person who is making the story is not involved with the story the other party is doing.
In Naruto's case it is the studio coming up with the story line and animating it.

In DBS case, it is the guy drawing the manga.


As for it being good or not, that is all opinion.

The anime comes from Akira story.. He's involved with it.

DB Super Manga- Writer- Akira Toriyama
So story is his. Thus canon. (Check Wikipedia or other sources if you want to verify)
Don't blame Toriyama for drawing. He is old and can't keep up with that pressure anyway but the character design and story are his.

Unlike Naruto filler or Boruto filler manga for that reason.
