Toads have played a pretty big part in human history, and are one of the few animals that can be found almost anywhere in the world. From being used in different fairy tales, to superstitions about their association with warts (and witches in some places); toads have been part of our story telling, and Naruto is no different, but I'll get into that later. When one looks at a toad from an analytical stand point, a few things stand out generally across most toad species: their eyes, tongue, and hind legs. When hunting, toads often stay still and rely on their eyesight to find their prey, instead of wasting energy hopping around like a jack ass, saying "come out come out wherever you are." Once they find their target, which can be anything from insects to birds to other toads depending on the size and species of toad, they stretch out their tongue and reel it in. What makes the tongue so impressive is it can sometimes stretch out to twice the toads body length. All to often it is the case, though, that the hunter becomes the hunted. When this is the case, the toad tries it's best to get away using its very powerful hind legs to hop away for a speedy getaway. There are several more interesting things that I could have covered (camouflage, psychoactive toxins, suction cup feet things), but those are only found in select species, so they don't fit the demographic as a whole. To

Toads in Naruto aren't as helpless as the ones we are use too. In Naruto, the toads that are summoned by anyone whom has signed the summoning contract hail from Mt Myōboku, instead of anywhere and everywhere. It is here that the toads call home, it's where they are born, raised, trained, help with the new generation, and eventually die at. The Toad Ninjutsu arsenal is something to be admired as well. Each summoning has their own weapon specialty, for the most part. They have an assortment of oil and fire related Jutsu, due to the flammable nature of the oil they naturally create. Which is funny, considering most of them smoke (Seriously, I believe baby Gamakichi was one of the only Toads that didn't carry a pipe... Stoners.) Anyway, (personal theory here) with the *ahem* effects of pipe comes a oneness with nature. This allows more elder toads (such as Pa) to utilize nature energy, which is a beast on its own and not the topic of training. Toads here also grow to be several.. Thousand times bigger than usual toads, dwarfing most summons and buildings. Known signers of the Toad contract include Jiraiya, Minato, and Naruto.

Sorry for the delay z.z

Very impressive reply....your pipe theory makes sense xd. However, according to the current checking standards, they won't allow you to manipulate a toad's venom directly. At least, not until you've mastered poison release. You covered the flammability of the oil but, interestingly enough, the oil is also highly adhesive and viscous. If you hit your opponent with it, most likely they won't be able to move the afflicted areas. But, all in all, very impressive reply.

Now next step is for you to sign the contract...in blood O_O

*Passes you a scroll*

Sign your name with your blood. The contract pretty much states that you can summon toads to fight for you in battle, but they will take a amount of chakra for themselves in exchange

No worries ^.^

That may make a cool custom summon. A poison-frog summon could be really useful, if I ever get the chance to learn that again xD. As there is very little chance of this, feel free to make it for yourself!

Taking the scroll into his hands, Trunks admires the impressive list of names that it contains. Some familiar, some not, some weaklings, and some legends. Regardless, he felt as if he was entering a new point in his life. With this thought, he reaches into his bag and pulls out a kunai. Razor sharp, as he always kept them, it doesn't take much to prick his thumb to cause a bit of blood to appear. Trunks then pulls up his sleeve with his opposite hand, and pumps his fingers to make a decent amount of blood appear. Poising over the first available slot, Trunks signs his name in traditional Japanese symbols going down the page.

I guess now we can start summoning tadpoles Trunks says jokingly, assuming little more would be available to him at this point in his training.

It's your idea man, I won't take it from you z.z
Besides, I don't really use summons xd. It'd be wasted on me.

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamariki) Summoning Technique: Gamariki
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
Gamariki is one of the most unique toad summons from mount Myobokuzan. Although with a very feminine appearance and behavior, he's actually a male (this contrast has lead to many comedic scenes between him and naruto). Slightly bigger than a human, he is a capable toad warrior, with the ability to use Water techniques up to A-Rank, Genjutsu up to B-Rank as well as like most toads, he can use Oil techniques.
Note: can only be summoned once

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamatatsu) Summoning Technique: Gamatatsu
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
Gamatatsu is the younger son of Gamabunta and Gamakichi's younger brother. Contrasting with his brother and father, he has a somewhat aloof and awkward personality, general distracted from battle and his surroundings. Despite this, along with his brother, he has been training to become a Toad Warrior. Standing more or less with the same height as his brother (similar to a human), he can fight in hand to hand combat, albeit with a lower skill than his brother, but can also use Water techniques up to A-Rank. Similar to most toads, he can use Oil techniques.
Note: requires signing of the Toad Contract.
Note: can only be summoned once

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamachu) Summoning Technique: Gamachu
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
Is the first toad named in the series. Gamachu is a mid-level toad that first appears when Jiraiya is introduced. Gamachu is always seen wearing samurai armor in battle. When he first appeared in the manga, Gamachu seems to strike the same type of pose as Jiraiya, as he would also seem to have become the personal summon of Jiraiya. This toad seems to be the keeper of the Toad Summoning contract scroll and unlike every other toad ever seen, Gamachu has not yet been seen talking, only quaking once or twice and mainly in the anime. In terms of appearance, the kanji on the necklace around his neck means "friendship," perhaps alluding to the fact that Jiraiya summons him in more relaxed situations. Only slightly smaller than a human, Gamachu is a very capable warrior specializing in Kenjutsu and Samurai techniques. He can use both skills up to S-Rank as well as Strong Fist taijutsu (non EIG). Like most toads, he can use Oil techniques.
Note: can only be summoned once

Ok, so these are the B rank toads, Gamachu is a samurai, Gamakiri who is the only canon toad with genjutsu, and Gamatatsu who is fairly generic! They can all use oil techniques, like all other toads. Personally, my favorite Toad is Gamachu, samurai jutsu and Strong Fist jutsu are really cool. You could put your opponent in a gen whilst Gamachu uses Iaido.

Gamariki sounds like a fun summon. First and foremost, RP wise it would be hilarious to summon him, due to his personality and cross dressing habits lol. But when you look at his abilities and skills for battle, there's a lot to be admired, if you are a lightning specialist. I say this because of two reasons: first, Gamariki can use up to A-Rank water, which works well in combination with lightning Jutsu, when one uses the water out as a medium. Next, being able to use genjutsu up to B-Rank works well with this because of (Raigen Raikochu) – Lightning Illusion Flash of Lightning Pillar.

Gamatatsu is essentially useless. Has the same abilities as Gamariki without access to Genjutsu. Knowing this and the fact that you would be spending the same amount of chakra regardless, I don't see a reason that you would need to summon him.

Gamachu is my dream summon lol. Well not really, but he's definitely going to help my game. He can use Ken, Samarui, and Strong Fist Jutsu.. Up to S-Rank. As a Mid-Long range fighter, I really had trouble with the short range game, until now. This gives me access to two styles of Jutsu that I normally wouldn't be able to utilize. Plus, a short range fighter with oil techniques sounds like it could have its own interesting combos.

So! Let's move on with this shiz. I'll review A-Rank toads, and S-Rank elemental ones, before we get to the big guns!

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamaken) Summoning Technique: Gamaken
Type: Supplementary
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 30
Damage: N/A
Description:
Gamaken is a gigantic toad warrior, similar in size to Gamabunta and Gamahiro. He acts as one of the usual companions of Jiraya and is considered one of the top warriors amongst the toads of Myobokuzan. Possessing a shy and modest personality, he defines himself as slow and ungraceful. However, that contrasts severely with his battle abilities and physical prowess. Wielding a sasumata and a shield (resembling a sakasuki), he is a very capable and dangerous close combat warrior. His size is accompanied by a proportionate physical strength and an unusual agility and speed, being immune to any ninjutsu B-Rank and below. He is capable of using Taijutsu moves (mainly variations of Strong Fist) but, if given a proportional sword, also Kenjutsu. Like most toads, he can use Oil techniques.
Note: Requires signing of Toad Contract
Note: can only be summoned once

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamahiro) Summoning Technique: Gamahiro
Type: Supplementary
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 30
Damage: N/A
Description:
Gamahiro is a gigantic toad warrior, rivaling the size of Gamaken and Gamabunta. Although little is known of his personality, as he isn't too keen to speaking, he embodies the true essence of a warrior. Sometimes summoned above an enemy to crush it to death, his main abilities are his prowess in close combat and his mastery in wielding his twin katanas (strapped on his back). A master of Taijutsu (mainly variations of Strong Fist) and Kenjutsu (mainly dual wielding Kenjutsu), he is a very dangerous close combat warrior. With strength and agility that rivals Gamaken's, he's generally dispicted as one of the top warriors amongst the toads of Myobokuzan, a fitting condition that is further proven by his immunity to all B-Rank and below ninjutsu. Like most toads, he can use Oil techniques. A trait unique to him is that from the large toads, Gamahiro is the only one so far seen summoned using the (Kuchiyose: Yatai Kuzushi no Jutsu) Summoning Technique: Food Cart Destroyer to crush an enemy.
Note: Requires signing of Toad Contract
Note: can only be summoned once

(Kuchiyose: Hogama) - Summoning: Great Fire Toad
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage Points: N/a
Description: After permorming the handseals and biting there thumb, the user will slam there hand to the ground and summon the Great Fire Toad. This toad was once seen in the anime when jiraiya summoned the mouth to trap kisame and itachi saying its fire proof, though amerterasu was able to burn the mouth. This toad is the greatest fire user of all the toads at Myobokuzan and can use all fire techniques up to A rank. Being the greatest fire user means that Kogamahi has great knowledge of fire jutsu and is unafected by B ranks and below.

Note: Can only be summoned once
Note: Must hold toad contract
Note: Only one Great toad can be summoned at a time
Note: Stays on the feild for 4 turns
Note: No other summonings for 2 turns

Gamahiro: Like Gamaken, he is a strong fist Taijutsu and Kenjutsu user, wielding twin Katanas. He rivals Gamaken and Gamabunta in size and can use Oil techniques. His abilities are exactly like Gamaken's, but he tends to lean more to the Kenjutsu usage rather than Taijutsu unlike Gamaken. One thing that makes him different is that he can be summoned through the (Food Cart Destroyer) technique to crush his enemy.

Great Fire/Lightning/Wind/Water/Earth toads: Each of these toads have the capability to use up to A-Rank of the elemental nature that they specialize in, Fire Toad can use A-Rank fire, Lightning toad can use A-Rank lightning etc. While their size isn't mentioned, i'd say their size is comparable to that of Gamaken and Gamahiro or a little smaller. Courtesy of one of greatest toad and SM users of NB, the Pervy Sage. All of these toads are unaffected to B-Rank techniques. If the techniques they use requires handseals, they can perform them just as any typical shinobi is capable of performing handseals.

Gamaken and Gamahiro sound really cool. CQC isn't my greatest area, so having two building size Toad summons that specialize in it will really help my game. Food Cart Destroyer is an awesome move, it's an aerial attack plus a summoning technique, so thats a big boost to Gamahiro's usefulness lol.

The Great Elemental Toads seem a bit.. Generic to be honest. Basically they are Toads that have specialized in an element, and for every element there is a toad. Being able to use handseals is nice, as most summons can't do that. I see them being useful against certain opponents, such as the Lightning Toad for a Steel User. Or to add to that, to counter your own weaknesses, such as the Wind Toad for the Steel user. Other than that, the limiting nature's of the toads would be a little too trivial for normal battle, in my opinion, it's better to stick to using them when they will be beneficial for the entirety of the battle instead of a move or two.

Well, the elemental toads are indeed generic, i'd suggest they are best used for combination attacks, or collaboration ones, but they aren't as powerful as most toads like we are going to see now.

Moving on, S-Rank toads which are powerhouses:

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamabunta) Summoning Technique: Gamabunta
Type: Defensive, Supplementary
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short (summoned beneath the user)
Chakra: 40
Damage: N/A
Description:
Gamabunta, literally meaning "Toad Boss", is the boss of the toads of mount Myobokuzan. An enormous summon (about 100 meters high), he carries a large Tanto (simple, square katana) on his back that he wields with great proficiency. He is very found of his smoking pipe and tends to be somewhat harsher than most toads, specially when he's summoned to "troublesome" situations. His sons are Gamakichi and Gamatatsu. Besides his enormous size and his immense strength and proficiency with a tanto, he is also a master of Water release, capable of using water techniques up to S-Rank. His large size and strength renders him immune to all B-Rank and below ninjutsu. A trait he shares with most Toads is the ability to use Oil Techniques, like spitting large amounts of flammable oil to combo with his summoners techniques.
Note: Requires signing the Toad Contract
Note: can only be summoned once

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Gamakichi) Summoning Technique: Gamakichi
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 40
Damage: N/A
Description:
Gamakichi is the personal summon of Naruto and Jiraiya and one of Gamabunta's children. He was first summoned by Naruto Uzumaki because Naruto couldn't focus his chakra during the beginning of the battle with Gaara, but has grown since then into a fully adult toad. Very similar to his dad in both mentality and appearance, he stands at the same size as his dad. Like his father he also uses a giant Katana in combat. Capable of using Fire and Water up to S-Rank, he is also a good user of Taijutsu (mainly strong fist variations) and has a strength well above most boss summons. Similar to most toads, he can use Oil techniques. He apparently learned Senjutsu and is able to use Senjutsu attacks, much like The Two Great Sage Toads. If he is able to passively do it or if he is constantly in sage mode is not clear. However, his speed, power and the ability to infuse natural energy into his elemental ninjutsu techniques (effectively turning them into senjutsu techniques) makes him a formidable summon.
Note: requires signing of Toad Contract
Note: can only be summoned once

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Nidaisengama ) Summoning Technique: The Two Great Sage Toads
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 40 (X2 if summoning both)
Damage: N/A
Description:
One of the elder leaders of the Toads of Myobokuzan, Fukasaku (also known as Pa) is a small toad (somewhat in contrast with the fact that he's older and more powerful than the gigantic Gamabunta) who serves as the main teacher of Sage techniques to Naruto and Jiraya. Possessing a keen intellect, he is a master strategist and an experienced fighter. Shima (also known as Ma) is his wife and acts as his battle partner but also one of the elder leaders in the clan as well. Capable and powerful, Shima matches Fukasaku's battle prowess and share most of his abilities. Both are capable of using Frog Katas and gathering natural energy to temporarily boost their physical strength (if they aren't merged with the user). Both can perform ninjutsu and use Senjutsu Techniques and while Fukasaku can use up to S-Rank Water and Wind techniques, Shima can use up to S-Rank Fire and Wind techniques. Both can use oil techniques, a trait shared amongst most Toads, and some unique techniques known only to toads. Ma and Pa are the only toads that can merge with the user to gather natural energy and transfer it to him, enabling the user to keep sage mode active as long as the Amphibian Mode is kept. The user can summon one or the other, once per battle for each. However, if the user wants to summon both in the same battle, he needs to gather chakra for one turn before they are summoned (the user does the summoning technique and waits one turn for the summoning to be complete, keeping his hands together as he gathers enough chakra to perform the summon). They seem to be constantly infused with natural energy or their sage mode is incredibly durable though they haven't shown the same type of sensory awareness as ninja sage mode users.
Note: Requires signing the Toad Contract
Note: The user may still use other techniques while summoning the elder toads, but cannot perform any handseals
Gamabunta: He is the boss of the toads contract, and one of the strongest toads there is, with an enourmous size of 100 meters in height. His main weapon that's shown in the series is using a Tanto with great proficiency. He is able to use Water Techniques up to S-Rank, and is immune to all B-Rank and below ninjutsu techniques while being able to use Oil techniques like most other toads. His usage of his Tanto is mostly freeform, with a few Kenjutsu techniques associated with him, but he can't use Kenjutsu techniques that require chakra like Gamaken and Gamahiro.

Gamakichi: He is the personal summon of Naruto Uzumaki and son of Gamabunta, Is an extremely powerful toad summon and arguably the most powerful one, He has the same size as Gamabunta, uses a large Katana and is capable of using strong fist Taijutsu, Water and Fire techniques up to S-Rank and Oil techniques like most other toads. Gamakichi is always in Sage Mode when he is summoned and greatly enhances the techniques he uses by infusing them with natural energy, meaning they turn into Sage techniques instead of normal elemental ones, which means they are neutral in terms of power to other elemental techniques (having no weakness nor strength).

Shima and Fukasaku, The Great Sage Toads: Fukasaku and Shima are the most powerful toads and oldest apart of the great toad sage himself, Shima is able to use Wind and Fire techniques up to S-Rank while Fukasaku can use Water and Wind techniques up to S-Rank. They are little in size and often summoned on the shoulder of their summoner (mainly to enter Sage Mode through the Amphibian Technique) but can also be used solely for combat, They can be summoned individually or together, but in order to summon them together, you'd have to clap your hands for a whole turn while gathering sufficient chakra to summon them at the same time, basically being incapable of using any techniques that require handseals while doing so. They can use Ninjutsu and a few Senjutsu techniques unique to them.

This the cache of summons that I've been waiting for lol. Gamabunta is the boss, but the others kind of have him outclassed. Freeform tanto sets him apart from the others, and I've been looking into it a little bit, so I may be able to play around with something there. Gamakichi is pretty great to be honest. S-Ranks in two elements, strong fist, and Senjutsu advantages. Ma and Pa are equally as powerful individually, but theyre more frail. I'm looking forward to being able to use the S-Rank Frog Song with them, to be honest, it was probably my favorite technique from the manga

So, right now, should we continue with the toad related ninjutsu?
