Shockwave Circled The Planet 3 Times.

40 Mile Blast radius.

People can feel it from 100 miles away.

crazyy

"All buildings in the village of Severny (both wooden and brick), located 55 kilometres (34 mi) from ground zero within the Sukhoy Nos test range, were destroyed. In districts hundreds of kilometers from ground zero wooden houses were destroyed, stone ones lost their roofs, windows and doors; and radio communications were interrupted for almost one hour. One participant in the test saw a bright flash through dark goggles and felt the effects of a thermal pulse even at a distance of 270 kilometres (170 mi). The heat from the explosion could have caused third-degree burns 100 km (62 mi) away from ground zero. A shock wave was observed in the air at Dikson settlement 700 kilometres (430 mi) away; windowpanes were partially broken to distances of 900 kilometres (560 mi).[13] Atmospheric focusing caused blast damage at even greater distances, breaking windows in Norway and Finland. The seismic shock[verification needed] created by the detonation was measurable even on its third passage around the Earth.[14] Its seismic body wave magnitude was about 5 to 5.25.[12]"

I already knew that bomb. I don't know if I have to be happy at Mother Russia's unbelievable power or to be scared of what could happen if that missile gets launched

Missile warheads which are currently deployed by countries are smaller, but they would still do a lot of damage anyway.

Aaaand this is why we shouldn't use nukes.

Robert Oppenheimer, the man who was the director of the lab that designed the original nuke in the Manhattan project, said, after Hiroshima, that "the physicists have known sin."

To which John Von Neumann - one of the physicists responsible for the development of hydrogen bombs like the Tsar bomba - replied "sometimes someone confesses a sin in order to take credit for it."

Von Neumann also joked about nuking the USSR, "If you say why not bomb [the Soviets] tomorrow, I say, why not today? If you say today at five o'clock, I say why not one o'clock?"

Freakenstein I suspect that the 'sin' of the 21st century will be done by the folk in your field:

"As researchers continue to transition from the era of DNA sequencing into the era of DNA synthesis, it may soon become feasible to synthesize any virus whose DNA sequence is known. This was first demonstrated in 2001 when Dr. Eckard Wimmer re-created the poliovirus and again in 2005 when Dr. Jeffrey Taubenberger and Terrence Tumpey re-created the 1918 influenza virus. The progress of DNA synthesis technology will also allow for the creation of novel pathogens. According to biological warfare expert Dr. Steven Block, genetically engineered pathogens “could be made safer to handle, easier to distribute, capable of ethnic specificity, or be made to cause higher mortality rates.”

No doubt that the synthesis of pathogens is feasible, but such a procedure wouldn't be performed without political motivation, as was the case with nukes. Science should be solely about learning and passive invention, not aggressive invention.

Ah yes, Nuclear bombs. One of humanity's greatest achievements yet the embodiment of humanity's destructive potential.
