Maybe like 1 or 2 but all of their levels combined doesn't equal to that of the 8 Gates. They can't take all of them by themselves. Add a character that is over that of 8 Gates Gai and then the team has won.

Wasn't that eighth gate user a genin who had no other discernable skills. His skills weren't even good enough to allow him to be a chuunin. In fact, Gai as a teenager seems to have outranked his father, before his father's death. My point is that the gates are supposed to increase your strength exponentially. It is of no question that an 8 gate punch from guy would have instantly killed any of the 7 swordsman and its questionable that one of them could have taken multiple ones out. However, having released the eigth gate and leaving survivors if anything was a testament to the pitiful state of Might Dai. So saying that they took on an eighth gate user isn't all that impressive. Especially considering 3 - tomoe kakashi did a better job at mowing them down.
