I don't think they can do anything but troubling luffy.Because he would have lost most of the crew along with ace & wb in that war.
But i think Post time skip Sh's can change the events some what........May be they could have saved ace's life

The only thing that could have really changed the outcome would be Ace's personality changing. Ace was freed and they were escaping. They would have made it with Ace if he hadn't responded to Akainu's taunt, which he threw out there knowing they were about to get away and hoping he could make him pause for just a bit.
