Even the sage failed were itachi was able to change the course of ninja histroy thru naruto and sasuke. He United the Ying and yang ....well until late boruto came . Well he was kage level wise at the age of 5... So at the age of 21 or 22 i would think that he is sage level wise or beyond... Even Black Zetsu praised itachi's brilliance and bz knew every shinobi in history being around for a millennium, also bz steadily put sasuke intelligence down when comparing him to itachi this is even more of a highlight for itachi due to tye fact just earlier minato a genius praised sasukes intelligence thats shows there is levels

Itachi may have believed obito was madara but so did everyone else in the ninja world only oro and kabuto knew the truth and they had to research extensively, itachi didnt really care for the name only the power and he knew tobi was powerful enough to be madara but your whole counter to itachi's intelligence means nothing due to the fact obito obeyed itachi
