Whch was better Naruto or Shippuden?

For me it would be hands down Naruto part 1. Because it had heart and they trained and had to fight with tools and they weren't OP like they are now. I think manga/anime went from ninjas to OP magic fighters lol. Part one had story great fights character development, they had screen time for all characters and great villains and it made me wanna watch it and drove me in the story. It taught me many things ect lol. So which do you like better and why?

It's general consensus that Part 1 was better but Shippuden explores actual interesting themes such as Revenge, Political Corruption and Peacekeeping Messiah-style.

It's messier but also much more decided in it's identity than the original. Part 1 the characters are all young idiots, none of the main cast are remotely likeable up way until lategame. All of the interesting aspects are side-characters, from Lee to Shikamaru to Kakashi- Naruto was a brat, Sasuke was a one-dimensional edgy emo and Sakura literally a nothing character full of toxicity.

Shippuden was much more interesting.

I prefer Part 2, excluding fillers.

Despite the pacing issues, I preferred Part 2.

Pein invasion arc, kazekage rescue arc, Itachi vs Sasuke, the Uchiha brothers reunion, Madara & Hashirama's backstory, the Akatsuki, etc.

Agree the power scaling went over the top, but there were a LOT of good things.

I like Part 2 (Shippuuden) a lot more.
The story became much darker and more mature, the world besides Konoha was explored and a lot of very interesting characters appeared too (Akatsuki for example). My absolute favorite story is the one about Jiraiya and the Ame-orphans.

Also, the fights were much more interesting in my opinion. Kakashi/Team10 vs. Hidan/Kakuzu, Jiraiya vs. Pain/Konan, Sasuke vs. Itachi, Naruto vs. Pain, Konan vs. Tobi, Kakashi vs. Obito. These fights are pure gold.

The bad thing about it is the ridiculous amount of awful and annoying fillers tho.

Shippuden pre-war arc had great potential. I mean the hype was so high during pain arc.i think that was the pinnacle of naruto

i liked early part 2 the most....first real enccountar with the mysterious akatsuki etc was badass. also itachi was still a villain and evil as hell

Part 2 for both honestly
In the anime, the Part 2 fillers kick Part 1 fillers' butts, at least
In the manga, although the very early bit of the manga was quite good, we had things like Hebi Sauce vs. Itachi, Sauce vs. Danzo, Pain Arc, which made Part 2 more memorable for me. And I always felt like the Sound Four arc was pretty boring. I can't really get into anything from Part 1 after the Chunin Exams.

Part was like the 12 yr old me, the Part 2 my adolescence, now Boruto is the next gen, Naruto had a family... ok so I'll have to start a family soon LOL
