If you were to start MGS series for the first time, would you marathon them chronologically or date release? And why?

In the chronological order, even if it'll be confusing to play MGS V (open world with excellent graphics) and then MGS.

I see. Well, I would still prefer date release because the plot is full of surprises. I wished I stopped at MGS2. Kojima intended to stop there. Dropping nuclear bomb of who the hell are the patriots.

I would also say date released as stories don't have to be told chronologically. Plus the order they put them out is the order they intended for you to get the information. You aren't supposed to know about all the stuff in the previous stories when playing through the first times that's part of the mystery and if you get the backstory before the mystery it won't be as mysterious.

Chronologically? Like, play MGS3, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, MGSV, MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4? Playing them in that order would kind of ruin the story XD

Release date is better in my opinion; you get to play the evolution of MGS's gameplay throughout the years, culminating with 5. Playing 5 then going to the original is jarring!

Release date also saves a lot of twists and explanations for later games. Playing 3 and 5 before the others kind of dull a lot of the revelations in the later games.
