Everybody has had a fear when he was a child. I mean a more "absolute" fear, like being kidnapped by aliens, eaten alive by a witch, or simply the most ancestral one: the fear of the dark.

I'll start with mine: when I was a child I had a crazy fear of the devil.
It all began when I was four and I was playing soccer after dinner with a friend, in a park near my home. His father came near me and started warning me that if I came back home alone in the night I would have risked to meet the devil.
My parents weren't religious and never told me about the devil, so I didn't know shit about him. I asked the guy who the devil was, and he explained, saying also how much he hated children and wanted to take them to hell. I was freezing inside and trembling like a pudding, and almost peed my pants when he added that not even my dad could do anything to protect me.
That night I was super scared and slept for three hours at maximum (you can guess what I dreamed huh) and for several years I've been obsessed by that.

What was yours?

In Germany, there is an old saying:

- "Hier sieht es aus wie bei Hempels unterm Sofa."
Word by word it means something like: "It looks like below Hempel's sofa in here". It basically means: It looks like a pigsty in here.
Hempels is some kind of an evil fable creature that is said to kidnap children when they have a messy room, taking them into his dirty home. And my parents used to tell my sister and me that Hempels is real, so I was really worried that there lives a monster below my bed. Similar to this:

Next thing is.. in our old home, I used to have my bedroom in the attic. And on the wall where the stairs to go up/down were, we used to have two very creepy portraits of clowns. One male, the other was female. And they had a little 3D effect on them. I swear, every time I went past them, it looked like their eyes would follow me. It was crazy xD

There was a time when ghosts really freaked me out. I was 10 years old and was staying at my mom's house (a really old house in the middle of nowhere on a farm) when one evening in the silence of midnight there was this sudden, massive banging on the walls inside my room. The banging kept getting louder and faster, until it was very aggressive and scary.

Completely freaked out, I ran into the living room where my mom fell asleep earlier while watching TV. She was standing in the middle of the living room, looking really scared too, and then my step dad came out of his bedroom asking what was happening. The banging in my room stopped for about 10 seconds but then started again really loud and angry behind us in the livingroom. Everyone yelled/screamed and ran to the other side of the room. Then it went quiet again for a few seconds, and we heard this loud crackling (like crumpling a chips bag) happening behind the couch that my mom had slept on. The noises then abruptly stopped. We were terrified and all of us slept in the same room that night.

I asked my parents the next day about what had happened and they mentioned that multiple families had lived in the house years before and apparently it was rumored that one person had died inside. To this day we still have no clue wtf had happened.

What's even freakier is that my mom has told me many stories where she claims she's seen ghosts (like floating, transparent people with no legs that have talked to her without moving their lips) and I never believed her. To this day I still don't believe ghosts or religion (demons trying to harm you and all that), but after this experience I probably should lol.

Lmao it would be pretty scary xd but it's ok, if that Hempel is a creature that can stay under a bed (so it's not of big dimensions) and needs to hide so we can suppose he's not that strong. All in all I believe I can take him down, and then I'll become famous in the whole Germany for being the one who killed Hempel. It would be the occasion for growing up a solid pair of moustaches and become the real life Mr. Satan :lmao:

Well, those are a bigger problem, since if they can live in a portrait we can suppose they possess a sort of dimensional switching ability, so you'd need a solid backup if you wanna face them. Or maybe you shold learn Rinbo Hengoku ;)

Lmao did you ever touch a snail? They're far worse in my opinion ;) anyway I used to eat both snails and frogs (cooked obviously!) so I don't think I've never been afraid of them. More, I've always been an "animals friend" since I was a very little child, very C16 xd

This is really intense, lol. Like it was right from the latest "Paranormal Activity" movie xD
My mother claims such things too. That she saw ghosts, felt someone touching her while she was completely alone and (partly familiar) voices that talked to her. She is not religious at all and not sick in the head, so it's really strange.

Courage the cowardly dog...believe it

OMG, I loved soo much hat cartoon. Eustace was almost equal to my grandfather lol

I know what Jinns are, since it's maybe the only thing of Muslim religion I studied (yes, you know the reason). The problem is that the Christian devil is way more ****ing powerful than the Muslim one. He's described to be the former most powerful Angel (when he was Lucifer) alongside with Michael Archangel (the overall leader of Heaven's army). He's been able to pack the whole inhabited world in a small valley while tempting Jesus without damaging a single building. As an angel, he's beyond the concepts of numbers, space, time, matter etc... We're just lucky he's still an ant compared to the Lord

Scary  impressive, you should call Scooby Doo for investigating after it xd it happens to me too that my grandmother always says she met a Jana, a sort of fairy who was worshipped when my land was pagan, and folks still believe they're real..

Yeah it's so weird isn't it? My mom is completely normal too but for some reason she has these stories. I think I'd definitely believe in ghosts if I actually saw one, but since I didn't see what the noises came from I always feel like there's no logical way for me to truly declare what was going on.

I don't believe in anything supernatural/religious but there's just this one insane moment that happened in my life that I can't explain lol.

Very interesting. I've never heard of a Jana before. What are some stories about them? Where are you from?
