]. And it was just his gourd sand that was used in order to restrain Madaras susano'o, while it was the pre-existing natural sand that was actually used to pull Madara out [

In other words, there is nothing suggesting that Gaara can't accomplish this feat on his own. The purpose of lightening Gaaras gourd sand, must of been for the sole purpose of being quick enough to maneuver around Madaras susano'o to restrain it. Due to the fact that Gaara was fighting alongside the SA, he couldn't use his AoE sand attacks here. Even if one wants to argue that Sasuke can hover above the ground inside his Susano'o, it doesn't change the fact that there isn't any durable layers of armor protecting him from below his feet. That is the legless Susano'o's weak point.

But that's why I've been saying he'd use a distraction. Madara wasn't using legged susanoo he was standing on the ground and he was caught through susanoo from the bottom.

I actually don't own the viz but funnily enough ran to the library and they have quite a few Viz volumes here. Gonna upload Onoki's statement, Gaara's and Kabuto's. Will update this post with the links since I'm gonna take some pics and upload em to imgur.

Well the back was gonna fine. It's also not hard to imagine that after Madara was caught the first time he was gonna cover the bottom to not let it happen again.

Surprisingly the tankobon changed Onoki's statement that I guess you got from WSJ FT?

Also in the last 2 panels I think the top one has sand from the area, or the gourd sand starting to encompass Susanoo. While on the last one it looks like the sand came from below. But ehh.

That was Gaara's gourd sand that Onoki just lightened, and what you see attempting to restrain Madara's Susano'o in the next panel over. The very bottom left panel was natural sand that Madara was standing on, and what Gaara used to pull him out (as he stated in the next page).

No worries lmao it fooled me too. And exactly good point Edo Madara =/= Danzo fight MS Sasuke. And Garaa's sheer AOE helps him immensely here.
