Samsung now joins technology giant, Google, as one of the major technology companies to hold patent to digital eyewear.

Their contact lens carries a camera and can be controlled by blinking, allowing people to discreetly capture their surroundings. It also allows for a subtle way to experience augmented reality.

And content recorded (and any commands you want to give the camera or augmentation experience) can be accessed on your smartphone by syncing it together with the contacts.

Currently, Google has two patents for smart contact lenses, though they are built for medical purposes with sensors and flexible electronics, able to read the chemical makeup of tears and figure out blood sugar level.

It is also important to point out that both companies have their lenses in the patent stage and neither may have anything built (or even any intention of building it). Companies often file patents for things that never get made.
