Ok, so as it may be apparent from my avatar and sig, I'm very much in love with both the game and the show of Yu-Gi-Oh! I was a hardcore player (played it for 10 years) and have been through all the generations watching closely as the game and the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! changes and evolves. So, after those 10 years, I realise it's time to move on and choose to get out of the game. And so I did.

Now, with the new movie coming out in a few months it just brings back all the love. Along with it, comes curiosity. Are there any people here who played Yu-Gi-Oh! (or still play it)? I'd like to know how long you were/still are in the game, what are your favourite decks, favourite era, opinions on the current metagame etc. Just becuz.

Started playing: Original era, cards just popped up in the west and the show was freshly broadcast on the TV (was still a kid in elementary)
Stopped playing: Summer 2015
Favourite era: GX (becuz fun, balance and slow style gameplay)
My favourite deck: Anything that has style and isn't too agressive but not too weak either. I like balance and fun decks are my favourites
Competetive or fun?: Fun. Yu-Gi-Oh!'s tournament scene is pay to win and has no soul what so ever. Casual play, tho, makes it the best game ever.
Opinion on the current metagame: Too fast, too broken and too expensive. Just like always. Is diverse and interesting, but I preffer the older times.

So, anyone here plays/played Yu-Gi-Oh!? Would love to meet some of ya.

Stopped playing: During elementary school XD (2004ish?), played online again on the Kaiba Corp Duel thingie for a bit in lik 2010/2011 but got bored.

Favourite era: GX (Because it doesn't take itself as seriously); Legendary Dragons in Duel Monsters (because it was kind of badass)

My favourite deck: Arcana Force (The World + Kristya Loop = The only lockdown I ever discovered on my own XD)

Competetive or fun?: Competitive play is garbage XD

Opinion on the current metagame: Too fast, too broken and too expensive. Also Pendulum Summons are the stupidest crap. XD And the community is kind of lame too, realtalk

Started watching in GX era, Got my first deck in 5D era.
Stopped watching when Zexal came along, like wtf was that.

Favorite deck would be my Shooting star dragon deck, it also had Majestic Star dragon but it was harder to utilize so Shooting Star was definitely my ace. I moved & lost most of my deck so I started over with a Leviathan Dragon set but I wasn't watching the anime.

Now idont play or watch

My favorite era was GX. And my favorite deck theme? Red-eyes, who else? The dragon of potential is such a badass.
Did you know that Red-Eyes got 2015 support? It's so strong now, it's fantastic. :D

lel we're the same person. :sdo: And oooooomg Kaiba Corp Virtual Dueling System (the game you played), that brings sooo much memories. :'D

Arkana huh? :yay: A friend of mine played Arkana but I never really liked them. Too much luck and too little skill. If you lose you lose all if you win you win effortlessly. And oh, I love lockdowns. =D

You should watch GX to the end tho. It has a 4th season (the last one) that wasn't aired by the 4Kids (the company that dubbed it) because they deemed it too dark and violent in contrast with the rest of the show. :p

What was your first deck? And yea... Zexal was a reboot for the series (completely unrelated to the first 3) which why it was so different. I didn't like it either.

Oh, Shooting Star... the only card I'm lacking in my Yusei deck. :3 And OUCH I can't imagine how pissed I'd be if I were to lose my decks (have like 20+ lel). Shame man. u.u

Started when the game first came out..
Had 3 decks.. Spellcasters, Exodia and Toon world
My fav era is always gonna be the original.. Felt disconnected from the rest though GX was bearable.

I used to play yu-gi-oh when I was 6/7. I was actually really good because my brother who was like 17 at the time taught me everything. I can remember I actually beat a 16 yo with my tricks I had to use 2 special cards forgot what they were called and if I did that he couldn't attack me or something. I also still have a necklace with the dark magician card through it. I even had all those exodia cards where you needed his full body etc

Good times

Man, I like all 3 of them. =D

I feel ya tho, at first I hated 5D's, but when I started watching it I loved it, tho at the time, most of my friends stopped playing so I moved online. That's why my happy era is original-GX. u.u

Started Playing: Very end of the original/start of GX.
Stopped Playing: Middle of 5Ds. Just grew out of it I guess. However, I recently started going on Devpro with some friends from my school recently and I've caught up with the meta and everything.
Favorite era: In terms of the actual game, I like them all and don't really have a favorite. I thought it got better as time went on but I don't have a favorite.
Favorite deck: From nostalgia, either Dark Magician or HEROs but I really like Batterymen and Shiranui too. Maybe Majespecter if they had a boss.
Competitive or fun?: Why not both? I like to be creative and make my cards that I like competitive. However, there's a limit. You gotta know what's good and what's not. You can have fun duels and you can have competitive duels so I don't see why everybody hates.
Opinion on the current meta: Very fun. Very diverse and thinking my way out of problems is something I enjoy from my mathematical background. Can't play it IRL because it's so damn expensive and I'm not old enough to get a good job, but I would like to.

Played quite competitively when I was 9-11, going to competitions and whatnot. Very fun even though everyone else was older. They poked fun at first until I started making a name for myself by winning the first match. xD.

Season 0 was fecking epic! Also I liked the manga quite a lot too. Judai manga > Jaden anime :p Also they don't censor deaths or any similar themes.

If anyone here is on DevPro, I'd like to play them.

Funny. I met my dueling gang end of original start of GX. Happy times... :)

lel you grew in reverse to come back to it :sdo:

That's a first. :D Usually people have a fav (mainly the one when they started out)

Favorite deck: From nostalgia, either Dark Magician or HEROs but I really like Batterymen and Shiranui too. Maybe Majespecter if they had a boss.
I still have a Dark Magician deck (my version of Yugi's deck). Wanna see? :D

You can have both ofcourse, but to me metagame is bad because it's pay to win and its monothone. You have 3-5 decks that kill everything else and you'll have a hard time beating them. Even if you do choose to play those decks tho they'll just get hit on the next banlist and swapped for something different but equally broken. I preffer the fairness and diversity of casual play. And I don't mean diversitiy of 10-15 decks like on the tournaments. I mean the diversity of hundreds of possible decks you can make or run into.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is such a huge game and gives so much abilities in deck making. It's a shame many people overlook it. u.u

lel I don't really consider Season 0 a part of the canon because it's not a Duel Monsters series and is based on only the first few chapters of the original manga. Was cool tho. Yami was evil af there. xD

I don't play it anymore but I could install it if you want. :p

I'm waiting for the new "Dark Magician" supporting cards to come out!
Oh man, I saw the new stuff. It's soooo cooooool! :O Too bad its OCG only, atleast for now.

Here it is. =D

Know the feel. Glad to see a Red-Eyes fan tho, always preffered it to Blue-Eyes. :)
Interesting deck. Mine focuses a lot more on offense. I've got like 10 different ways to get Red-eyes out, and then upgrading to Red-eyes darkness. I've only got a few trap and spells for waylaying an opponent, but effects of my dragons more than make up for it.

Started: Ever since I saw an episode on TV.
Stopped: Middle school.
Fave era: The original, by far.
Fave deck: Blue-Eyes.
Competitive or fun: Both.
Opinion on the current metagame: Ridiculous. Pendulums were the worst thing that could happen to the game, and the current strongest deck (Performapal, the circus animals, lmao) is just dumb.

If anyone here is on DevPro, I'd like to play them.
I'm on YgoPro (Percival's), but you would probably destroy me anyway since I only play old-school decks.
