Hi, Its been awhile, some of you may remember me as Guy Fawkes, Others as: FODDER #6. Which is, believe it or not, very much OK with me (Badge of merit really). After a evening of trolling NB myself and 6 others where banned temporarily, except when we returned to NB our Names were in fact changed and our profiles were running extremely slow. In some cases it still does (just my case *deep sigh* ). Anyways the Itachi Arc has brought me away from my Dragon Ball Super stupor (see what I did there lol), Not to mention, although its a bit belated, I was curious immediately after viewing Star Wars The Force Awakens on your thoughts ( NB community) regarding a few things pertaining to the film.
First lets began with the title: The Force Awakens. What does it mean? What is it Regarding? Who is it regarding? Most would state the obvious. Rey. She is extremely powerful, exceptional, clever, brave, resourceful and the films main protagonist. When Maz escorts Rey beneath her base, The light saber calls to her and she has vision like Anakin and Yoda, Both very adept in the arts of the force, and both among the most powerful.
But I personally am not so sure, in fact I am fairly certain the awaking in the force is in regards to Finn. Here is why.
1. When the film first starts we see Po on a dessert like planet in a village which is soon invaded by Kylo Ren and a squad of storm troopers. One of these Storm Troopers we know to be Finn. Soon after witnessing the massacre and friend/associates death, he begins to panic. Right before Kylo Ren boards his ship he stops and glares at Finn. This is because Finns conscious(The force, the will to choose to embrace right or wrong) has literally awoken. He made his decision at the very beginning of the film. He chose the light. In spite of his conditioning. Think if he was able to overcome brainwashing through sheer will, then one could argue that any storm trooper could do the same. This would leave a big plot whole in the film. If Storm Troopers could be exposed to be prone to moral instability than anyone of them at any given time could simply decide to do the right thing. No, I believe that Finn is in tune with the force
2. When it is revealed that someone escaped in a spacecraft Kylo Ren immediately Knew it was FN-2187 Or whatever. There must have been hundreds of storm troopers on base. Why Finn? Even if it was because he stopped and stared at him when Finn choose not to act in the village. Why is it he was able to recall Finns name/number so easily without anyone telling him or anyone knowing which one(storm trooper) it was specifically? He then asked about Finns history and status. Finn made a serious impression. We see a picture of a small boy (Finn) from a holographic projectile, which insinuates that Finn has been apart of the First Order since a child. Further proof that he experienced serious conditioning over the course of years and yet just like that, one instance, and he breaks free?
3. Not only did Finn awaken his conscious. Finn was the one to find Rey!!! Because the force lead him to her. Not to mention it was he who suggested they take the Millennium Falcon, when she just thought it was a piece of junk, not knowing he was pointing her in the direction of her destiny. This is further symbolized when he keeps grabbing her hand, offering direction when there wasn't any.
4. Finn can feel impending doom through the force, but everyone just assumes he is a coward. But his fears are confirmed when he is about to part ways with Han, Rey, Maz. Right before there deaths Finn hears people millions of miles away on a distant planet/planets cry out in horror or terror. then we see planets attacked and exploding. soon after, just like Finn prophesied they were all attacked by the First Order.
5. Since Rey rejected the Light Saber, Maz gives it to Finn, not Han who has some experience with the thing (the scene on Hoth when he uses Luke lightsaber to cut open that monster thingy), but Finn. She even insisted that he take it when he exclaimed he needed a blaster. Why? wouldn't it be more prudent to give him a blaster? He is a storm trooper after all.
6. in the promo for the film the guy was inseparable from a lightsaber, suggesting he was jedi in training. This was obviously a bait and switch. but what if its a double bait and switch. either way brilliant and devious marketing.
7. When Han and Finn are attempting to rescue Rey, Han ask Finn for some direction, and he has none. Han ask him what did he expect them to do now. Finn said something like "use the force". and what do you know he runs into Rey willy nilly. Sure she escaped on her own , but i doubt she would have gotten far fighting a healthy Kylo Ren. No if it was not for Finn's plan, she would have no Falcon to escape on, Han would not have died to save them (and attempt to save Ben/kylo) and chewie would not have shot Kylo Ren(injuring him, so that she could win)
8. Finns name FN-2187 has deep meaning rooted in star wars lore. google it. its to arbitrary to mention here IMO
9. in the comic Maz retracts her former statement and says "she sees the eyes of a warrior" in Finn, where as she previously stated "she was looking in the eyes of someone who wanted to run". He just needed something to fight for Maz. Rey.
10 Besides you really expect two Jedi to take on an entire Order of Ren and Snoke? I suppose Leaia, Po and the resistance can handle the rest (Storm troopers and Gen. Hux)
