All good underdog stories have the hero being the reincarnation of a nigh omnipotent demigod, who is destined to win.

Oh wait, no they don't.

Exactly how you a underdog with a destiny.

In my opinion Naruto should have been "mistakenly" the child of prophesy cuz he isnt senju. Sorta like Sora isnt meant to weild the keyblade at first in KH. Naruto should have had a will passed onto him from displaying his courage, making him a child of prophesy. Then the underdog with no destiny theme may still apply.

Wrong Hero Cliche. The Prophecy indicates a chosen one, but rather than go with the Obvious Candidate, the "Old Wise character who dies" choses the Loveable Idiot. Everyone acts surprised, until the Powers that be reveal that the Loveable Idiot is the chosen one after all. And There is Much Rejoicing.

That doesn't really fit into the story of Naruto, since Naruto isn't called the child of prophecy until much later into the story.

Reincarnation and transmigration are two different concepts.

Yep. His nature and natural instincts enabled him in to becoming the child of prophecy (both brothers have been transmigrating for centuries without any success ) and still accept by a few handfuls who finally decided he was the one, others don't even know about it. He himself didn't bother to listen the prophecy about it either. So his personal actions and choices aren't guided by that kind of expectations in anyway- not even in the end.

Well, the story was already ruined by the war-arc in general tbh. It could've been a nice thing, but I have to agree with Dantee here:

Combined with the Kaguya asspull and BZ 1 shotting Madara yh it ruined it.

No, as the "destiny doesn't matter" idea was already dismantled many chapters before with Naruto's Child of Prophecy reveal spoken of during Jiraiya's death.

However, not even the above bothered me. When one is the reincarnation or "chosen one", it doesn't take away merit from their accomplishments as they still have to think things through. Nothing is automatic. Ashura transmigrants of the past failed many times, after all.

Yes, it did... for me at least.

The height of ability was always mentioned with Sage's name, it should have been ended with Juubi Jinchuriki at most...

It wasn't the turning point or anything, I just still don't get why it was at all necessary. The same story could have been resolved on a smaller scale, with the same impact.

Not necessarily. The story may be a little better without them being explicit transmigrant, but it wasn't that bad.

I would've preferred Naruto and Sasuke to be just themselves and not some reincarnations. Plus the whole Hago intervention and giving them chakra felt like an ass pull out of nowhere. Guess Kishi was in a hurry o finish the manga and ran out of ideas.

It was a way to downplay Obito and give sasuke more importance as an Uchiha. If you look at how things were going you'll understand from the moment Tobi said he was Uchiha Madara he had became the most interesting Uchiha, Sasuke on the other hand had lost his specialty to many others such as Itachi, Real Madara and Obito. The one thing incarnations did were to make sasuke someone special otherwise he was just an uchiha with an ems that too he had obtained with a lot of help from other uchihas

-obito had mokuton, rinnegan, tentails and was the main antagonist. Opposite of naruto and fought a fight of ideologies with him.
-madara had it all was the real villain and someone who wanted to change the world.
-itachi was well itachi!

but what was sasuke? rather what was his specialty in team 7 he was just as important as say the third hokage in the war, even less important than kakashi or gai. But making him an Indra incarnate he automatically went above all these and matched Naruto (who didn't need to be ashura's incarnate to prove his importance/worth)

introducing indra and ashura legitimized Sasuke as Naruto's equal and rival. It also made him somewhat more special than itachi, obito (on his own he had no chance to be more special than those uchihas). That's all it did, nothing more

Nope. It will only be ruined for you if you let it. Honestly it's a gamble to invest your time in the story. Its best not to have high expectations for a manga, anime game or anything or else disappointments can happen..

That's a very good point.

What ruined the manga was Naruto himself and the whole Bijuus and Jins. In order to keep the playing field equal, Kishimoto relentlessly upped his game with every antagonist he introduced. This became so laughable by the time Bijuu Dama was introduced that I laughed my head off, honestly.

Had Kishimoto kept them as "chakra monsters" rather than monsters with "chakra flesh" things wouldn't have been so blown out of proportion. It was so damned hilarious to watch that logic being broken apart and pieced together to convince us that they are still chakra monsters. Chakra was turned into physical entity beyond the point of no return. The author had to drag everyone up to this level of laughable, scifi, nuke-level powers so that dear old Naruto wouldn’t be left alone; he had to be coddled.

Couple that up with Obito, who ruined it completely with his typically embarrassing thoughts on how he thinks “Naruto and him are the same.” How many people are the same as Naruto in this manga, again? I think I have lost the count. His childish tussle with Naruto on childishly stupid ideologies centering on "Will of Fire and How to become a Hokage (your very own handbook guide)" were nauseating and the stuff of one of the worst writing I have seen in any medium. It was laughable. Who were they appealing to? 5 year olds or people that cling to those bygone childhood days? Silly.

Every antagonist that came across him took on something as if being infected with a lethal pathogen that had one mission: destroy that character from the inside until not even its husk remains. Tobi was one of the many causalities that would shock any decent reader’s sensibilities.

They (Kishimoto and Co.) should have quarantined him, given him limits. But, nooo. That would have been the sensible thing to do. The only saving grace of this manga was Sasuke, Sharingan, Uchiha dynamics and few other threads. This manga was ruined beyond redemption from the moment Nagato decided not to kill Naruto and take the helm of the idiot ship again. We saw flashes of good narrative with the Kage Summit and Danzo arc. The rest of it? I kept hoping something good will come of it … and the manga ended and that lingering feeling of being lead on is still there.

So no, the manga was mediocre long before it. It simply plummeted below it immediately after.
