The recent shippuden episode was pretty disturbing

usually anime violence is too silly and absurd to be scary or shocking, like Hunter x Hunter while disturbing, is extremely goofy and hard to take seriously. But this scene was dead serious, the entire episode had no silly moments it was straight up serious conversations and then just a straight up slaughter on a really personal level because Itachi knew all these people. The animation was extremely detailed and fluid and it didn't shy away from showing the horror and desperation on the uchiha clans terrified faces as they were killed. While there are more disturbing scenes in anime, this at least was the most intense and morbid thing I've seen in a mainstream shonen anime.

Sounds like a good thing imo. Suppose Naruto is kinda already over for the majority of fans so they can risk more serious stuff like this.

It was more realistic violence than over the top "people=blood pineatas" type gore
