Honestly, i think he just lost that eye during his training, and is now 3X more badass for it.

Its either unusable or part of his power up, watch him open it and have an eye like mihawk's eyes, kaybe some sort of special eye technique he passed down to him. Im still surprised zoro got trained by mihawk i never expected that.

It won't be a power up in and of itself, but it will open when he uses a technique he learned during training to make it recognizable to the reader.

It would be even better if it was a sharingan though just to piss riker off
