Obito got freaking nerfed. Dude looked beastly fighting the Uchiha police, but seeing Itachi being tempted was nice too.

Ya it did provide some nice aspects for sure. Didnt mind watching a filler(or special) for once. Just outta curiosity wasnt Kisame the first person Obito recruited?

I should read the novel, I thought we were owed a hour long episode, wish this week's ep woulda been an hour. I did notice there were 2 Akatsuki members on the cliff that werent original. I am curious to what they have to offer. Also the animation was pretty badass I thought, hope they keep that up into cannon eps.

I bought the novels, but I only took 2 semesters of Japanese, so I know a little, but not enough to finish a novel. The online translations were eh. I knew some were wrong, because I read the material. I hate they skipped a few cool points in Itachi's childhood a couple of weeks ago.

Damn that irritates me and makes me curious as to what they left out about Itachi's childhood in the anime.
His fight in the chunin exam, saving his mom and brother, and dealing with the pressure of being the heir to the Uchiha clan. I really hated they left out the mission where Obito killed his teammate. They glossed over it in the anime.

What do you think Obito going was going to say to Itachi ontop of the roof after the slaughter? When he said "Your're, nevermind".
Crying
That Obito was Goon-ly! Like damn. Almost as if that was really Madara!
he was like a ghost moving like that it was scary lol. Epic. And he took that girls eyes lol

See that's what got me. In the novel Itachi puts her under a genjutsu, shows them getting married, and then she dies when he releases it
It looks like they made itachi move on past her when he saw her on camera. No romance for him lol they weren't really focused on chie must be sad xD

Well, I was but not anymore. xD But, many Japanese are complaining about it on Twitter along with Shisui's confession on how he acquired his own MS.

They probably 100% switched who Obito and Itachi killed to make it more tragic.

In the novels, I think the reader can feel sad because the Uchiha had to die, but not for Itachi killing them himself (as it's only sad when he killed his parents) since no one cares about the Uchiha Police Force and he didn't need to feel guilty about Izumi since he gave her a lifetime. While, Obito does the rest.

But with this, well Itachi has more reason to feel despair. He committed a horrific act in a Catch-22 scenario, killed people he didn't want to at all, never got to see his gf, plus his parents are acting like parents to him for the first time he's lived & he's forced to kill them. It's much more saddening and gloomy. I liked his interaction with Obito more at the end too.

It almost kinda felt like an unusual apprentice type thing lol they didn't seem mad at each other

You know what would be interesting is if Obito didn't kill her and he shows her to itachi lol bc she said save me. And he kills her anyway XD

It would be interesting. And messed up. xD

I think they could appease everyone if they had Itachi having a flashback of Obito calling him over to finish off Izumi (hence why he tied her up instead of just killing her like the rest) and he gives her a Tsukuyomi then. I doubt it, though. I don't think he'll have any flashbacks next ep and this current one implied Obito just tied her up so she wouldn't run away when he'd kill her & he could take her sharingan (he kamui'd away all the activated sharingan eyes).

But if they did, it would keep the gloom and sorry of this ep and in next ep reveal that Izumi's character wasn't totally pointless. They just wasted her here, she was a fodder with this and not a romantic interest.

Why ditch this amazing part from the series ... whyyyyy? :((
Itachi *******: Book of Dark Night
During the Uchiha Clan Downfall, Itachi came to her to begin the massacre with her as he was told by Danzō Shimura that he could only spare his little brother Sasuke Uchiha. Believing that ending her life first would quell his inner doubts, he proceeded to kill her and her mother first. As he lured her mother away, Itachi approached Izumi and placed her in an extremely powerful Tsukuyomi where she lived the entirety of her life in 0.000000001/th of a second. In her dream, she became a chūnin, retired from shinobi life to become Itachi’s wife and raise their children, and lived to become eighty years old before dying of old age alongside Itachi. Because her mind was departed from reality in such a manner, Izumi collapsed into Itachi’s arms dying. Izumi thanked Itachi for giving her the life she wanted with him, even if it was a dream, and Itachi thanked her for loving him as she passed away peacefully. In the anime, she instead fought with and was killed by Obito Uchiha, who praised her eyes.

It's pretty much the only interaction he and his mom have in the novels.

As the Kyuubi attack was going on, he (while he's carrying Sasuke) and his mom relocate each other. They're both worried and they hug. During their reunion amidst the chaos, a boulder comes hurling at them. 5 yr old Itachi hands baby Sasuke over to his mom, jumps into the air, and smashes the boulder (which was large enough that if it landed it would have completely crushed all of them) with chakra enhanced strength (yes, he had that at such a young age). His mother appreciates this skill as she's a jounin herself and praises her son by saying she takes after Fugaku (lmao).

Then, Itachi grabs his mom's hand with the hand he's not using to hold Sasuke and guides her to safety. I'll PM you the excerpt now.
