How he was revived?

Orochimaru may know a jutsu that can divide his soul into many souls, a bit like the Tsuchikage who can split his body in halves, and create 2 living bodies and probably 2 souls.
He may seal those souls into a host with his curse seal.

Another explanation would be that Orochimaru escaped Totsuka's seal in the soul dimension and was free to travel between his curse marks.

I see a nerf as giving a character something then taking it away for the purpose of plot. It did happen with Naruto but only in the form of Frog Kata. I can't remember any other instances where he was nerfed.

I think this excuse is outdated. The EMS is Sasuke's ppwer, do we say that the rinnegan is hashirama's power just because Madara used his flesh to get it? Of course not we call it Madara's rinnegan. Technically everything is Kaguya's power that doesn't mean people don't have ownership of their resoective power anymore. The EMS is called Sasuke's EMS. Besides Sasuke just got stronger eyes and no loss in eyesight. Sasuke doesn't even have tsukyomi but if you still want to use the outdated reasoning that Sasuke's EMS is Itachi's as well despite Sasuke not gaining any of Itachi's techniques such as totsuka, yata, or Tsukyomi then by all means :bdpf:

I'm talking about current Sasuke. Not the past one of course Sasuke has had power-ups just no notable ones during his one with Naruto. Unless of course you want to count the tail beast which isn't apart of his main arsenal so that's debatable for you. So long as the databook says EMS is Sasuke's eyes I'm going with the databook,official manga, and the fact that sasuke can deactivate it and not a fan's interpretation :bdpf:. Deactivation of eyes means original owner, Hashirama does not iwn a rinnegan just because madara used his flesh to get it :bdpf:. If they were Itachi's eyes Sasuke wouldn't be able to deactivate it. Again Sasuke didn't even get anything from the EMS, so how does it count as Itachi's eyes? If it were Sasuke would have tsukyomi, yata, and totsuka. If Itachi got EMS, I'm almost certain you wouldn't be calling it "Sasuke's eyes". Just snother user downplaying Sasuke smh . I suppose you think Kurama is a power-up for Naruto as well? What's your point ? Itachi's eyes are his now, the pattern on Itachi's eyes aren't only Itachi's but also Sasuke's and the abilities EMS grants are Sasuke's as well.

i always felt the cursed seal was more of a hindrance than a benefit. I dont think that would have aided him further once he got MS tbh.
I think orochimaru survived because he still had some of his essence left, like kabuto absorbed a part of him so it wasnt all gone into Sasuke. He was revived through Ankos cursed seal which had some of his essence. He still needs a body every 3 years and didnt cheat immortality because in that state he would have been dead unless someone else directly revived him. If no one revived him he would have stayed dead, he cant revive like that. Also only a few people have cursed marks if any still exist so he may not ever be revived that way again.
His body stealing immortality he can do whilst alive and doesnt need help to revive himself so its a much better choice.
