[Discussion] Should Pro-life be promoted on College Campuses?

This was put on my college campus on Wednesday. Is this wrong to post something like this on a campus? Should this be allowed? I showed this to my boyfriend and he said "If posting signs about 'homosexuality is a sin' is discrimination on the campus how is this okay? I think this is wrong and shouldn't be posted on a campus." I'm not giving my input on how I feel about abortions because I wanna here all sides.

If you don't need permission, whatever. At Columbia we have people walking outside with signs that say Jews rule the world. Inside the campus we have people shouting about who Israel killed today. Take all comers.

With the exception of it being on private property, freedom of speech/protest/assembly takes precedence.

Wow...I remember at my previous college ULM some extreme religious people use to walk on our campus and they harassed us even if some of us believed in Christianity and said horrible stuff about Muslims but the teachers chased those people off campus. They even posted a video on youtube harassing students but they removed it after students threaten to sue them.

Wow...I remember at my previous college ULM some extreme religious people use to walk on our campus and they harassed us even if some of us believed in Christianity and said horrible stuff about Muslims but the teachers chased those people off campus. They even posted a video on youtube harassing students but they removed it after students threaten to sue them.

Well yeah if people start actually harassing others, that crosses a line and I think the administration would, and is right to, step in. There should be some measure of respect for personal space and safety for students and guests on campus, and in the public in general. But passive demonstrations or things like leafleting are fine. We have plenty of leafleters for things like socialism, veganism, Bible study, whatever.

Even the most interesting demonstrations like the big event we had protesting campus rape last year or the "die-ins" in Spring 2015 (or Fall? it's been a while) to support #BlackLivesMatter just become kind of routine and you get desensitized to all of it, unless you're a participant. Otherwise, it's just something you stare at from your window during your Music Hum course.

Would you have said the same thing if this was a pro choice billboard? (I'm legit asking, not trying to come off as being a smart ass. Also not saying what is right...you'll see my point below)

I ask because often (especially nowadays) people often publically express their ideas, viewpoints, but opposing viewpoints are usually asked to be silenced and put down without a second thought simply because it goes against their beliefs. At the same time the same people will advocate for their beliefs freely. This is usually Liberal vs Conservative beliefs.

As long as you aren't getting harassed as was stated earlier by others I think its okay. I just wanted to know If a pro choice board such as "Women have the right to choose" would receive the same negative attention/questions.

Like I'm pretty sure I stated I wasn't giving my view point on if I'm pro-choice or pro-life buuut I'm thinking some one posting a pro-choice poster would get attacked. It seems like stuff like that doesn't get posted because those people are attacked.The same thing for secular stuff. I had some atheist friends who said their secular club didn't post around school because they would be attacked.

My boyfriend stated that because of the fact the people who posted this is a religious group and their belief in "Abortion is Murder" come from the bible. If I'm not mistaken the bible said Homosexuality was "Wrong". I remind at my previous college a group of people would come to harass students in general with religious stuff but mainly the homosexuals,and people who liked porn and Muslims. They told them they were going to hell and going to burn...It was awful.

People like this use to carry megaphones around screaming about how we were all going to Hell. The weird thing is they screamed at everyone, so they knew nothing about the people they were judging, other than we were college students. Makes me believe they are prompting someone to hit them, so they can sue for assault. Honestly I believe we should all just keep our opinions to ourselves and let our votes reflect them instead. Arguing about it usually accomplishes nothing except both sides getting heated

This is a whole other thing. Free speech is being used selectively in America, as well as other freedoms. Its really bad, but people are blinded by there own struggles to realize they are walking contradictions.
