I doubt anyone is going to buy that. Soma is also not the type to do things sneakily.

Well that was quite obvious from what we already knew about him. What I find uncharacteristically for him, was that he invited Soma so quickly as during the Moon Banquet Festival it was said, or at least strongly implied, that he prefers to work completely alone.

I like that the manga took a bit of a sidepath, I was a bit done with all the cook-offs honestly. I think the politics in the background can be way more interesting. There are also a lot of other characters that kinda have disappeared from the story because it has been focused on a small group for a while.
