Last console I bought was the PS Triple. PC is all I use. Glad I didn't buy the fourth. 4.5 came too soon.

I got a PS4 in October. Even if the PS4.5 was 4k for games, I'm not gonna get a 4k screen and pay $400 simply for better resolution. I'm too poor for that shit, and I doubt 4k is gonna change my enjoyment of my games too much.

3 years is too soon? Isn't that around half the life of a console. I mean, I expected the PS5 to come 6 years after the PS4 so the 4.5 timing makes sense.

From a business point of view, people who might have bought a PS4 in the next year or two won't because of this announcement (they'll instead buy 4.5). PS4 doesn't have broad of a game collection (compared to like the PS2's when PS3 was announced). PS4 was still going strong and could raked in more $$$, games, and legacy if they had waited a year more.

No, the legacy will continue. It's called the PS4.5 because it's just slightly better. The games will be the same, as the systems are the same. The library for PS4 will stop with PS5. PS4.5 will have the same games just slightly better resolution.

It's like the PS3 slim, and PS3. They have the same legacy.

Glad I didn't buy a PS4 yet, so I'll go with the upcoming new one then, but only because of the awesome PS4-exclusives that I want to play. Hopefully I can use my 4K PC-monitor then, don't want to buy a TV just for the console.

My PS4 is only a year old and this happens. I don't think I can trust console manufacturers anymore, guess its back to PC gaming
