I forgot to mention

There are two ways people operate: one is not considering race, ***, height, weigh, looks etc to begin with - - because you see more important things.

Second is noticing all those things by default as a measure of worth but then rectifying it because you don't want to hurt someone and your mind allows you to override the natural x-ist instinct, everyone should be making these kind of choices.

The second one although artificial in nature shows a will to be good, something different from just a matter of features, something you cannot know for people who operate the first way in this situation<- That's sort of off topic though.

Blocking out an entire ethnic group/race is more than just a preference. It is all derived from racial mindsets that people are taught in society.

If color is a reason for not liking someone that's racist Lol.

"I don't like her because she's Hispanic" = Racist

"I don't like her because she's dumb" = not racist

So not liking someone for one characteristic (stupidity) is fine, But not liking someone for another characteristic(skin color) isn't.

I am not going to explain the difference to you that's so obvious and self explanatory. I won't debate with you and your constantly posting bigoted statements in this section. Won't waste my time

It isn't hyprocritcal it is a fact. Not liking someone for their race is racist and denying that is sad

No. It's a preference. I won't ever drive another Toyota. That's my choice.

Possibly and possibly a form of colorism. Like someone told me "I like you because you are light skinned and I don't like dark skinned girls." I actually told this person off because I don't accept stuff like that as a compliment... and I'm more than a skin color.I questioned that guy and I was like "What if I was a shitty person? What about my personality? How could that not come to your mind first over my skin?" When people tell me stuff about how they feel I'm pretty because of my skin or lucky it's as if they are saying I'm better than those people who aren't my skin color. I actually know some people that date someone based off their skin color and are treated like crap by that person. It's more complex than saying "Oh it's just a preference" especially if you live in an area were the lighter your skin the more you are praise and the darker you are the worst you are treated. Like I know people who told me they wanted to bleach their skin "to become prettier" or told me they wanted to be my color because it was"better" or tan their skin "to become prettier". So to me saying you are attracted to certain skin colors over the other is problematic. Some of you may think I'm looking at this a little too deep but I can't take stuff like this in a light manner because of the stuff people have told me in life about how they feel like it's better to be lighter or a certain color or how I was "lucky" because of my skin or crying because they felt I was "better" and would be "more liked"...Idk it kinda bothers me a little but eh that's just me.

Yeah mixed or Latinx people have to deal with crap like this a lot, it's even an issue within families when one person is significantly darker or lighter skinned than another, even in immediate families.

You're right that colorism is legitimately harmful, but if OP is keeping his preferences to himself I figure that's the best we can hope for.

In general though, I don't understand guys (or girls, I suppose) who date casually but don't learn to not be outwardly colorist. Like why you gonna try and turn a girl off immediately

Yea my mom is a few shades darker than me and it gets a little annoying when people think that's not my mom. She told me some people at a kid hospital though she was my nanny when I was a baby and how they treated all the other black people horrible but they treated us nice because they though I wasn't black. My mom said after the doctors and nurse checked up on me she told them she was my mom and not my nanny and they were shock and my mom left with me. Some people even now think I'm mixed or not black (when my hair is straight) but I feel like a "look black" or that I have features besides my natural hair that is common in some black women.

Also I remember I corrected a friend who was talking crap about dark skinned guys. Omg the stuff she said was so unreal and mean.I told her it was immature to generalize and group all dark skinned men together. I guess she stop discriminating against them because she is dating a dark skinned guy now.

Well yeah everyone talks mad crap until they realize they want some of it XD

The idea that someone is actually only attracted to certain races or colors is downright silly (different from wanting to be in a relationship with someone of the same skin color or something like that because of shared experiences), but if people want to fool themselves into thinking that they're only gonna get it up or let it in for [insert whatever here], their loss. As long as they keep it to themselves and don't regurgitate it to everyone.

It's funny because I met people who say they are attracted to only a certain race or color and they call me silly when I said race and color doesn't matter to me. lol
