No he said he is the land, meaning he can travel anywhere and sense anyone. He never mentioned anything about witnessing, in fact he would need to travel to the battlefield to witness Sasuke's fight, or did you miss the part he was present at the fight against Itachi ? If he could witness everything without travelling Obito wouldn't have told him to go watch over Kisame.

You'll note that when he confronted Sasuke after his fight with Danzo he also told him that if they do fight both of them would most Likley die.
