And coming to Hinata's topic. The reason could be she knew how Naruto struggled in his life without parents. May be she doesn't want her kids to face that type of situation.

And Yes she had got potential to become Jonin. But she preferred her kids to be more important than Jonin and that's who you call a Mother. Nothings more important to a Mom than her kids. Maybe that's what Kishi's trying to say and show Hinata's love for Naruto through their kids imo.

She is not retired,She is the First Lady of Konoha and like Presidential First Ladies, She has duties to perform for the Stated. Sakura is the Retired one after Salada was born She is only shown cleaning and fighting to get Salada back but it was a Mother wanting Her Daughter back not a Konochi on an assign mission. We haven yet seen Her work the hospital yet in Naruto Gaiden nor Boruto movie.
