Kishi had to show the reasoning behind Kakashi's attitude, and the event in which he received his Sharingan, regardless of whether or not Obito was going to be Tobi.

I called it when I saw Kamui with his right eye. Same visual pattern, Sharingan technique, warping ability, etc.
Tobi claiming to be Madara & being a fraud was something I was well braced for.

Referring to your post. Tobi's eye ability was what Kakashi just used. The hairstyle also gave it away. Danzo wouldn't just get Naruto's parents killed then take Shisui's eye to the point where he sacrifices it and gets pissed at himself for destroying it...

I had a long hypothesis/story before Tobi's identity was blown that he was a White Zetzu clone of Madara left behind (hence a "shell" of his former self) to finish Madara's plan & resurrect him (hence his knowledge of Madara and his reference to Naruto on Nagato's betrayal) but got pissed when Madara's Edo Tensei showed up and blah blah blah
