it's not like he had the chance to even use any or Madz used any kenjutsu of his own to kill him. Sasuke dieing by the sword is symbolic while Naruto just proved how useless he is without the fox. : )

It's because of plot. Every victory & loss the main cast has had is because of plot. Madara, Naruto, Sasuke or anyone else did/didn't pull it off because plot demanded it.
"If so and so did this it would have been different" and the story would have ended without the proper conclusion. Madara made as much progress as he did because the plot demanded a fictional character to do it. The same can be said of everyone else and any other event--it's Kishi's call not a history book.
