I bet Obito kept a watch on him and his potential very early. Itachi was always saying to himself "a life is born", "a life is dead".

Obito had to illustrate those fears in Itachi to be able to do what he will in the future.

But damn Obito is ruthless, killing little kids like that. Itachi got spared and it must have left a dent in his heart.

So basically, Obito is responsible for almost EVERY bad event that has taken place in NV?

Ruined Naruto's childhood by spawning a 9tails in the village

Ruined sasuke's revenge path, and tried to make him destroy the village

Ruined Nagato's character, made him seek revenge

Messed up Kakashi's childhood by dying (Probably not his fault lol)

Made Itachi watch his friend die (Probably to purposely activate his sharigan)

This man also started an entire World War and almost killed everyone. I think they are writing this sht out as they go. I still never got over the fact that Obito is "The Masked Man", He looked much older than Kakashi did when he fought the 4th.

Eh, SP did change a few things.

In the novels, it says they went on a mission to go escort/protect the daimyo... but the novels don't really describe the mission. It just basically mentions the Obito incident and why Itachi's team were there (they had just finished helping a daimyo).

I think SP used the cat mission since they had nothing to go on from the novels bar that statement and maybe the cuteness of the episode would be jarring in comparison to Tenma's death and a nice surprise for people because of that.

Tenma's personality was generally the same, but the reason he decided to go against Obito was not. For the team's conversation, only Chinko's was exactly the same. But instead of Tenma concluding with "I'll make it up to you", he tells Itachi that he "Owes him nothing" for saving him on the mission (lol, he's saved from ninja cats in SPs version... in the novels we don't know what Itachi saved him from exactly on the daimyo mission). When Tenma attacks Obito, it's not to protect Itachi but to show off- he wanted to brag about being the one who stopped the guy who knocked the rest (bar Itachi) out with genjutsu. He fails miserably and ignored Itachi when he told him to "stay back" from the masked guy (Itachi thought observing him would be better) and then his death results in Itachi reactivating his sharingan.

Obito had no interest in Itachi or anyone else. He was simply on his way and by pure coincidence crossed paths with them. He knocks them out with genjutsu and had initially planned on going past them and not killing them, but the 3-tomoe genjutsu is not strong enough to knock out Itachi (who is an Uchiha) and Tenma (who was immune to lower level genjutsu). He would have left them alone too, (how do you think Itachi lived? Because he didn't attack Obito- Obito went past him after he killed Tenma). Tenma dies in the novels out of his own arrogance, not by trying to make it up to anyone like in the anime. And Obito kills Tenma (in both the novel an SP) because the latter was attacking him. He doesn't do it specifically to make Itachi feel a certain way, Tobi's just apathetic when people (adult or child) go at him. But, he likely did know who Itachi was at this point since the latter was well-known throughout the village for being a little kid with lots of skill.

I hated how some parts got glossed over if you're doing a adaptation you might as well go for it.
They can't "go for it". They have to change some things because a) Some things would give the wrong impression if adapted because we cannot have an internal monologue with no dialogue take up the entire episode, b) Some things are not described in the novel, so they have nothing to go on other than the fact they happened somehow (ex: daimyo mission), c) This is them condensing 544 pages into about 9 eps because they have a limited budget... people would rather have good animation with really fast pacing than 544 pages (many of which just serve to confirm things over and over again but in different ways tbh) in 24 eps with bad animation.

As long as they continue keeping the main meaning the same, it's fine regardless of how it goes down. They've also kept the major events where he saw death (war scene and this with Tobi), so it's all good.

Ooooh obiyo scene gotta watch :)
In the novel it's an escort mission of the daimyo sp skipped it -_-
Just watch the beginning with Fugaku and Izumi & then skip to the end when he sits outside with Sasuke and remembers Tobi. That's all you need and what I did. xD

I enjoyed the episode, but if I had to chose, I would have rather watched a full episode about that Obito incident than that cat seeking mission...

Unless, of course, this will be shown in detail later on, but it doesn´t look like that...

The Obito incident is just as long as what they showed- he kills Tenma and leaves & Itachi awakened sharingan. Not really much else to say about it and they can't do an entire ep on such a short incident. But it would have been cool had SP been able to come up with ideas for a serious daimyo mission (as the novels mention they went on one but state nothing other than Tenma getting saved by Itachi & Tenma being angry about it).

It looks like next ep is going to detail Itachi and Shisui interaction. Either they go on a mission to go kill a shinobi who betrayed the village so Itachi can join Anbu, or it's a little before that where they discuss him taking the Chuunin exams. Hopefully, this is good and not average like the latest ep (which was dragged down a bit by the filler cats).

Yeah, they cut him out as well. xD I was mainly mentioning what was present and changed but not things they completely cut out.

He was some way back behind the company and he came up to them after the incident happened.

Probably did it for the sake of time and budget. Also, since the mission was changed (it had some Anbu following the team as this involved daimyo), they took him out.

I wish they kept that mission. But, I guess it's okay as I'm surprised they even bothered to show this part with Tobi- it was important but with how fast they've been going... :/ However, once again, I do understand why they changed it since the novels fail to actually describe the mission and just skip immediately to Tobi. And I think they made Tenma actually care about Shinko and Itachi so that when he'd die it would be more impactful unlike in the novels where I felt "Okay, great this jerk died... didn't know Itachi cared so much as to awaken sharingan over someone who was a jerk to him and just because he was a comrade though" and Shinko quit being a shinobi to go work as a civilian because of his death despite him being rude to her on a consistent basis too- SP did good here in that they made it more natural. In the novels, it seems like Itachi and Shinko felt the way they did because it was jarring that life could be ended so quickly and they'd have so little control over what happens around them but in the anime, it seems like that and him really being their friend too. It was nice.

What is this Itachi manga/book you're always talking about?
