) to take route, it must be active. You'll know if Byakugō is active or not by the visual markings manifesting across the users face, if their are marks (Byakugō is active) if there are no marks (Byakugō is not active).

When Tsunade was bisected her seal WAS NOT ACTIVE.

Sidenote: One could argue that Tsunade could've activated her healing abilities if she would've ignored the well beings of her comrades but Tsunade FTW!

Usually depending on how powerful the summoning is to the ratio of how much chakra you have and use, the creature can only be sustained for a short period of time. She had enough chakra for herself true, that part is fairly obvious but she didn't have enough for all five of them and she had to sacrifice herself as a medical ninja.

Tsunades Regenerative techniques require chakra and if you would have read the manga (which you obviously don't do, you would know that Tsunade ran out of chakra just from her regenative jutsus alone.
