But no the likelihood is that Hashirama's narration wasn't literally all he said to Sasuke. That was for the reader's benefit. In person Hashirama likely went into more detail. Plus I know it's a longshot but these two are actual mythological, iconic ninja. The image of these two brawling could be ingrained.

Hashirama knows how to do genjutsu check part 1 naruto.

Hashirama use only one genjutsu , the "shadow genjutsu".

In the Anime , it's Tobirama who use this jutsu , but in the manga it's Hashirama. The manga is the official story , the anime have changed some element in the story. ( Suiton Suishouha have never existed , also the Raijin No Ken ect...)
