They used jutsu so big just to kill a small human but failed. Madara wasting his energy by controlling Kurama just to kill Hashi where he could used small scaled jutsu and save much of his energy. Used Close combat more. Look Madara was defeated bcus he no longer can used Sharingan bcus lacking in chakra thus hindered him from identifying Hashi's wood clone.

the fight was probably supposed to end like that for dramatic purposes more than anything else, especially so the readers would get some insight as to why Hashirama said Madara could be called a prophet. Wouldn't necessarily get that insight if the fight was determined by an explosion. I could be reaching, but it was probably also meant to hype up those guys' physical capabilities when it came to taking punishment.

I dont said bare fist fight only. Hashi vs Madara first fight I think never involved Kurama or Golem. But small scaled Jutsu fight. Still it can be one hell of intense battle.

This's what kind of fight I mean by small scaled fight just to kill your rival. Still leading to Madara's defeat for first time.

Still the point here if you coudnt kill your rival using Mega power, whats the point for both side to show it off? Its funny to me.

In DB every ending of fight always the good side using their most powerful attack to end their rival.

Piccolo kill Raditz using his strongest tech

Gohan kill Super perfect cell using Father-son Kamehameha.

Goku kill kid Buu using Genki Dama.

If we want to compare them to Naruto and Sasuke, the later is Rikudou power character mean their level is higher than HashiMadz. Big scale attacks wouldnt affected them much with all their Rikudou power defense. Unless they bring in their most powerful attack.
