He was a hero at the war but people only paid attention to Minato.
As always, people didn't give a **** about the Uchiha.
Not really.
He did an above average job and that was all. He did the most out of the Uchiha members (which is why Uchiha considered him to be their hero), but hero is not the right word in general as he didn't particularly turn the tide or anything. Many people, both Uchiha and non-Uchiha put in the work for the war. Minato got recognition because he was the deciding factor of the ideal. His praise was fair. Kakashi got recognition due to his affiliation with Minato mainly. This was where it became unfair.
Was it fair that not everyone got recognition? No. But was it due to them being Uchiha? Evidently not, as other clan members got nothing too. But, the Uchiha later elevate it into something it is not due to jealousy and valuing silly things like empty pride. As well as worrying about non-existent threats which leads to their demise via their own self-fulfilling prophecy.
If being an Uchiha meant it was impossible to get recognition, then Itachi, like Minato, wouldn't be well-known within Konoha and among his peers for his abilities when he'd get into his pre-teens(it'll be shown in the later episodes). Itachi later become so elite that not only did peers outside of his clan start to envy him to the point of dislike, but his own clan members did as well.
